POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Senior Financial Accounting Analyst your roles and responsibilities will include:
The client is seeking a Senior Financial Accounting Analyst to support its Transmission Revenue Accounting team. This role is responsible for validating transmission settlements, investigating financial discrepancies, preparing customer billing, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring accurate accounting of transmission services. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and experienced in accounting, financial analysis, reconciliations, and working with large datasets.
Key Responsibilities
Settlement Validation & Financial Analysis
- Validate transmission settlements and billing for accuracy and completeness.
- Investigate financial discrepancies and resolve settlement exceptions.
- Analyze transactions from source data through customer invoicing.
- Perform variance analysis, trend analysis, and financial reconciliations.
- Validate data integrity across multiple financial systems.
Customer Billing & Contract Administration
- Prepare and review customer invoices.
- Resolve customer billing inquiries and disputes.
- Interpret contracts, agreements, and tariff provisions.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate contract implementation.
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Analyze General Ledger activity.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
- Assist with SOX compliance, internal controls, audits, and regulatory reporting.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting, controls, and business processes.
- Develop reporting tools and automated solutions.
- Document procedures and settlement methodologies.
- Collaborate with Accounting, Operations, Regulatory, Legal, Customer Service, and other business teams.
QUALIFICATIONS
Most importantly, you need to be a passionate Senior Financial Accounting Analyst who enjoys his work and is considered to be one of the best within your organization. The ideal Senior Financial Accounting Analyst would be someone with deep experience in many (if not all) of the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Analytics, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, finance, financial analysis, settlements, billing, audit, or business analytics.
- Experience performing reconciliations and investigating financial discrepancies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with large datasets.
- Ability to collaborate across multiple departments and support internal and external customers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, Power Query).
- Experience with SAP.
- Experience using Power BI, Tableau, or SQL.
- Knowledge of SOX compliance and financial controls.
- Experience with utility, energy, or regulated industries is a plus.
