SUMMARY: The Senior Financial Analyst (Cost Accounting) is an integral part of the accounting team and oversees the general ledger accounting close process. This position is an individual contributor and currently reports directly to the Controller. This position requires interaction with corporate team members, the Senior Leadership Team, and peers in the accounting department and other internal departments. A successful candidate is someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, result oriented, analytical, strong attention to detail, and highly motivated to always deliver excellence in his or her work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal departments to gather, analyze, and interpret relevant financial information.
  • Prepare and record monthly accounting journal entries such as accruals, deferrals, amortization of prepaids, depreciation of fixed assets, and reclassifications.
  • Perform general ledger account reconciliations and analyze to ensure that journal entries, transactions and balances are recorded in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Standards (GAAP).
  • Perform detailed reviews and analyses to ensure completeness and accuracy of the financial data.
  • Prepare general ledger account reconciliations, roll forward schedules and other ad hoc requested schedules/analysis.
  • Point person for annual financial audit documentation in support of the Controller's lead for Southwest.
  • Maintain and generate daily, weekly, monthly, and annual tools, workbooks, and analysis.
  • Compile and send Financial Statements and other financial reports to our Corporate office for consolidation.
  • Assist Controller with other various projects and new initiatives.
  • Acts as the backup for the Payroll Manager who is responsible for both Weekly Hourly and Bi-Monthly Salaried payroll processes.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS in Business, Accounting, or related field of study.
  • 3-10 years of experience as an accountant in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with ERP systems (GP Dynamics, Axapta, D365)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel (expert), and PowerPoint).
  • Strong work ethic including sound judgement, outstanding interpersonal skills, and ability to work independently.
  • Able to work with a high volume of transactions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Results and detailed-oriented mindset with a opportunistic eye towards process improvement.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and organize work effectively.
  • Must be able to collaborate and communicate (oral and written) effectively.
  • High sense of urgency and ability to identify creative solutions to advanced, time-sensitive problems by balancing achievement of process objectives with practical considerations.
  • A high degree of organizational agility, able to handle sensitive issues with prudent discretion across all levels of the organization.
  • Commitment to delivering quality results and overcoming obstacles and challenges in a time-sensitive environment.
  • Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple work streams while remaining calm and effective under pressure.
  • Familiar with extracting and loading data into excel report models and tools using our current reporting tools that we utilize (BI, SSRS, Atlas, and Halo. Experience in these reporting tools are highly desired.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and draw conclusions from data of varying complexity, including plant labor and productivity, and key performance metrics.
