Position Summary:

Ogletree Deakins has the opportunity for an experienced Senior Financial Systems Analyst to join the Firm’s expanding Accounting & Finance Department. The Senior Financial Systems Analyst is heavily involved in administration or co-administration of Financial Systems related to producing, creating or maintaining Firm-Wide reports and analysis. This position is very involved in the annual budget and forecast process and will have designated monthly responsibilities including but not limited to expense analysis. 

Essential Functions:
  • Administer the firm’s existing budget system with primary accountability for user access provisioning and deprovisioning, role-based security configuration, and audit compliance. 
  • Lead implementation of firm’s new budget system software including coordination with stakeholders balancing technical data migration and alignment with reporting needs.  
  • Design, publish, and maintain budget and forecast reports; establish documentation and training materials to ensure consistent information flow across departments. 
  • Support the annual budget process and rolling monthly forecast cycle, coordinating with business unit leads to compile, validate, and load budget data. 
  • Assist with monthly actual-vs-budget expense analysis, identifying key variances, quantifying drivers, and preparing executive-ready commentary. 
  • Support daily and monthly cash flow forecasting models, maintaining assumptions and variance logs. 
  • Serve as functional administrator for the Aderant general ledger: create and maintain chart-of-accounts structure, configure new GL accounts, and enforce coding standards across the firm. 
  • Partner with the Financial Systems team and Aderant support to triage, escalate, and resolve system issues; document resolutions and preventive controls. 
  • Administer the Finance module of the HR system, including mapping of general ledger accounts, earnings codes, and job families to ensure accurate payroll accounting and reporting. 
  • Maintain the Document Management System at the office-level finance folder tier, configuring security permissions, folder taxonomy, and access reviews. 
  • Build and maintain production-grade reports using Xcelerate, Cognos, and SSRS; translate business requirements into reusable, self-service report templates. 
  • Write complex SQL queries against enterprise data sources to extract, transform, and validate financial data in support of recurring and ad hoc reporting needs. 
  • Leverage AI-powered tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude or equivalent) to accelerate data preparation, automate repetitive analytical tasks, and enhance narrative generation. 
  • Develop dashboards and visual data presentations that enable leadership to monitor KPIs and make data-driven decisions. 
  • Act as the Finance liaison to Real Estate and Project Management departments, facilitating reporting alignment, shared data definitions, and continual process improvement. 
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams, contributing financial modeling and analytical support from inception through post-implementation review. 
  • Perform other accounting and finance functions as assigned by the Controller or Assistant Controller. 
Requirements:
  • 8 + years accounting and financial systems experience.  
  • Strong budgeting and accounting systems experience. 
  • Proficient in all Microsoft applications, including but not limited to (Advanced) Excel and Outlook. Knowledge of SQL and Document Management Systems a plus. 
  • Ability to work overtime as needed 
  • Analytical - able to mine and collect data. 
  • Problem solving skills – gathers and analyzes information skillfully. 
  • Communication – listens and gets clarification before acting. Responds to inquiries quickly with professionalism and tact.  Reads and interprets information accurately and concisely.  Maintains confidentiality of sensitive data. 
  • Organization Skills. Files are organized and are easily retrieved by other appropriate individuals.  Ability to organize, manage, prioritize, and handle numerous projects/tasks.  Detail oriented 
  • Teamwork – willing and eager to help others and share knowledge and skills.  
  • Initiative – takes independent actions and reasonable risks. Asks for and offers help when needed. 
  • Knowledge – basic and advanced accounting knowledge.  

Preferred Qualification: 

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Previous management experience in a professional services organization
