Senior Fire Protection Engineer

Overview

TRS Staffing Solutions is seeking a

Senior Fire Protection Engineer

to support a multidisciplinary engineering organization delivering commercial, institutional, government, industrial, and infrastructure projects. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced fire protection professional who combines strong technical expertise with project management, client engagement, and consulting experience.


The successful candidate will lead fire protection engineering projects, perform system design and code analysis, manage client relationships, and provide technical leadership across a variety of project types. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with clients, mentor team members, and contribute to the successful delivery of complex engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Fire Protection Engineering & Design

+ Evaluate existing fire protection systems and develop recommendations for upgrades and improvements.

+ Design fire suppression, fire alarm, detection, and mass notification systems for a variety of facility types.

+ Perform building and fire code analysis, interpretation, and compliance reviews.

+ Develop engineering reports, technical studies, and system design documentation.

+ Prepare engineering judgments and alternative methods analyses where applicable.

+ Support life safety and fire protection strategies throughout project development.

+ Review engineering deliverables and provide quality assurance oversight.

Project Management & Leadership

+ Manage multiple fire protection engineering projects simultaneously.

+ Lead project execution while maintaining quality, schedule, and budget objectives.

+ Coordinate engineering efforts with multidisciplinary project teams.

+ Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and designers.

+ Support project planning, resource allocation, and technical decision-making.

+ Ensure deliverables meet client requirements and applicable codes and standards.

Client Engagement & Business Development

+ Serve as a primary point of contact for internal and external clients.

+ Develop and maintain strong client relationships through responsive consulting support.

+ Prepare technical proposals, qualifications packages, and project pursuit documentation.

+ Participate in business development initiatives and client presentations.

+ Identify opportunities for new and expanded service offerings.

+ Support marketing activities and strategic growth initiatives.

Industry Involvement & Technical Excellence

+ Perform technical research and prepare documentation for internal and external distribution.

+ Stay current with evolving codes, regulations, and fire protection technologies.

+ Participate in professional organizations and industry groups.

+ Support continuous improvement and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

+ Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and technical excellence.

Required Qualifications

+ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.

+ Professional Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) license required.

+ 10+ years of Fire Protection Engineering experience.

+ Experience in consulting engineering and project management.

+ Strong knowledge of fire suppression, fire alarm, detection, and life safety systems.

+ Experience performing building and fire code analysis and interpretation.

+ Demonstrated ability to manage engineering projects and client relationships.

+ Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

+ Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

+ Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

+ Ability to travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications

+ Experience supporting commercial, institutional, government, and industrial projects.

+ Knowledge of local building, fire, and life safety codes.

+ Experience preparing technical proposals and qualifications packages.

+ Active involvement in professional industry organizations.

+ Experience mentoring junior engineering staff.

+ Strong client-facing consulting experience.
