MISSION: Optimize the health, development, education, and well-being of babies, toddlers, and preschoolers through a family-driven, equitable, community-based system of high-quality prenatal and early childhood programs and services.

The Early Childhood Education and Care Department was established on July 1, 2020. The Department's aim is to create a more cohesive, equitable, and effective early childhood system in New Mexico. That means coordinating a continuum of programs from prenatal to five and ensuring that families in every corner of the state can access the services they need.

Why does the job exist?

This position assists in overseeing the obligations of sponsors approved to operate the federally funded Summer Food Program and Child and Adult Care Food Program.

How does it get done?

This position is responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and assessing sponsors' program operations while providing opportunities for training and technical assistance to personnel at all levels for CACFP and SFSP. It plays a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of services to the public by offering recommendations and feedback to sponsors for necessary changes and improvements. The role also includes reporting to the Supervisor (Program Manager) on levels of compliance observed during administrative reviews of sponsors. Additionally, the position is responsible for receiving and retaining technical training provided by the Bureau. It further supports Child and Adult Care Food Program sponsor oversight by assisting with administrative reviews and other related activities deemed necessary by the Supervisor to fulfill the Bureau's overall compliance obligations.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate should possess strong writing skills and the ability to produce clear, easily understood reports and written communications. They should be well rounded and proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, with prior employment that required extensive use of computers and technology. Excellent customer service abilities and experience in person-to-person interactions are essential. Knowledge of federal programs is highly desirable, and preference will be given to applicants with previous experience in oversight, regulatory work, or the food service industry.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's degree in any field of study from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of experience in investigations, regulation, policy, statutory, and/or contract compliance. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling five (5) years may substitute for the required education and experience

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending, and reaching may be required. Direct client interaction and travel is required.
