Senior Front-End Engineer (Java/Swing)

Client Overview:
Our client is a global organization seeking an experienced Senior Front-End Engineer (Java/Swing) to join its technology team. This individual will work within a collaborative engineering environment supporting enterprise-grade applications and contribute to the continued development and modernization of user-facing technology.

Salary/Hourly Rate:
$136k - $175k

Position Overview:
The Senior Front-End Engineer (Java/Swing) will design, develop, and maintain user-facing features for enterprise-grade applications. This position requires strong experience developing desktop user interfaces using Java Swing, along with knowledge of Java-based technologies and modern software development practices.
The Senior Front-End Engineer (Java/Swing) will collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to architectural and technical decisions, promote front-end development best practices, and provide guidance to junior engineers.

Responsibilities of the Senior Front-End Engineer (Java/Swing):

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality front-end applications.
• Develop and enhance desktop user interfaces using Java Swing.
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers and cross-functional engineering teams.
• Integrate front-end applications with APIs, back-end services, and databases.
• Optimize application performance for speed, scalability, and maintainability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve front-end issues.
• Ensure code quality through testing, code reviews, and development best practices.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and front-end technical strategy.
• Mentor junior developers and encourage knowledge sharing across the team.
• Stay current on emerging front-end technologies and development practices.

Required Experience/Skills for the Senior Front-End Engineer (Java/Swing):

• Proven professional experience developing desktop user interfaces using Java Swing.
• Working knowledge of Spring Boot.
• Working knowledge of the JDBC API for database interaction.
• Experience or familiarity with Solace Event Broker.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and system integration.
• Experience with build and dependency management tools such as Apache Maven.
• Understanding of version control systems such as Git.
• Experience with feature and bug-tracking tools such as Jira.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Senior Front-End Engineer (Java/Swing):

• Experience with front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
• Experience with TypeScript and modern state-management libraries such as Redux.
• Experience with responsive design and cross-browser compatibility.
• Knowledge of web application performance optimization.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Kiro, Amazon Q, or similar.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices.
• Familiarity with AWS, Docker, or other cloud/container technologies.
• Understanding of front-end application security principles.
• Experience working within Agile environments.
• Ability to contribute to technical design discussions and propose innovative solutions.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
• Equivalent professional experience will be considered.
