Job Details

The Role:
We're looking for a **Senior Frontend Engineer** to help build and scale Lucra's web application platform. You'll be responsible for the frontend experiences that allow partner brands to seamlessly embed our real money competitions, challenges, and rewards into their own products.

Our platform includes headless SDKs (logic and data delivered through iframe integrations without a prescribed UI), component based SDKs (drop in, fully brandable UI components), fully hosted tenant web applications, and an internal admin console used by both Lucra teams and customer administrators to configure tournaments, games, and experiences.

You'll work across a modern React and TypeScript stack, own features from concept through production, and help evolve a large GraphQL API that is actively migrating to REST. As an experienced engineer, you'll also play a key role in raising the bar for engineering quality, testing, and frontend architecture as the team continues to grow.

This is a hands on individual contributor role with meaningful technical leadership opportunities. You'll help shape how we build developer facing integration surfaces, improve our engineering practices, and influence the future direction of the platform.

Key Responsibilities:
* Build and maintain our headless SDKs, component based SDKs, and fully hosted tenant web applications, each with unique requirements around API design, branding, theming, and partner integrations.
* Extend and maintain cross frame communication using `postMessage` based messaging between embedded iframe experiences, partner applications, and our native host environments.
* Develop and ship features across our web platform and admin console using React 19, TypeScript (strict), Vite, TanStack Router, Query and Form, and typed API layers powered by GraphQL and Hasura while supporting an ongoing migration to REST.
* Help lead the frontend side of our GraphQL to REST migration by updating data fetching patterns, typed client code, and code generation tooling while ensuring a seamless user experience throughout the transition.
* Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Backend Engineering to deliver features from planning through production within a regulated real money environment where accuracy and reliability are critical.
* Help establish and expand our automated testing strategy across unit, integration, and end to end testing.
* Contribute reusable UI components and design system primitives built with Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui, and Radix that are shared internally and across partner integrations.
* Utilize feature flagging with Statsig, analytics through Segment, and error monitoring with Sentry as part of the standard development lifecycle.
* Participate in code reviews, mentor fellow frontend engineers, and continuously improve engineering standards and best practices.
* Optimize application performance, reliability, developer experience, and CI/CD workflows, including GitHub Actions deployments to AWS S3 and CloudFront.
* Design and structure SDKs, documentation, type systems, and examples that work seamlessly with modern AI coding assistants such as Claude Code and Cursor, emphasizing intuitive APIs and developer friendly documentation.
* Build and maintain AI engineering skills, including Claude Code `SKILL.md` files, that document integration patterns and engineering conventions for both internal teams and external developers leveraging AI assisted workflows.

What We're Looking For:
* 5+ years of professional frontend engineering experience with deep expertise in React and TypeScript within production environments.
* Strong understanding of modern frontend architecture, including component design, client and server state management, routing, and application performance.
* Experience building and maintaining SDKs or developer facing client libraries, with a strong understanding of public API design, versioning, and backwards compatibility.
* Experience working with iframe embedded applications and cross window communication using `postMessage` or similar messaging protocols.
* Experience developing reusable UI component libraries or design systems used across multiple applications and engineering teams.
* Strong knowledge of frontend performance optimization, including profiling, bundle optimization, rendering and hydration strategies, Core Web Vitals, and diagnosing production performance issues.
* Experience working with typed APIs using GraphQL and/or REST, including navigating large evolving schemas and supporting API migrations without disrupting existing functionality.
* Demonstrated experience writing automated tests and advocating for strong testing practices across engineering teams.
* Comfortable owning complex technical problems from architecture and implementation through production deployment and ongoing monitoring.
* Strong communication skills with experience mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and collaborating across cross functional teams.

Nice to Have:
* Experience with the TanStack ecosystem, including Router, Query, and Form, or similar technologies such as React Router or Remix.
* Experience with Vite, Bun, or other modern frontend build and runtime tooling.
* Experience building applications with Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui, or Radix component libraries.
* Previous experience within regulated industries such as fintech, real money gaming, gambling, or sports betting where compliance and fraud prevention influence product development.
* Experience supporting GraphQL to REST migrations, including code generation tooling updates and client side refactoring.
* Experience working with feature flagging and experimentation platforms such as Statsig or LaunchDarkly, as well as analytics platforms including Segment or Amplitude.
