We're looking for an experienced Senior Game Designer (Scripting) who will embrace our philosophy and share his/her hard earned expertise to help us create an incredible experience for our players. Join us for the opportunity to create groundbreaking games with some of the best developer talent in the industry.

This is a 12-month contract working onsite at one of our offices in a hybrid role

What you'll do...

  • Work with Design leadership, the Design team, Animation, Code, and Art departments to bring the next Star Wars adventure to life.

  • Create memorable, imaginative, and challenging Combat Encounters and own their technical implementation in UE5.

  • Leverage the AI cast to create moments and experiences that are more than a sum of their parts.

  • Solve a variety of challenging technical and creative problems in an efficient manner.

  • Become an expert on the inner-workings of the encounter and AI systems and an extremely helpful wealth of knowledge for other team members to query on the inner-workings of these systems.

  • Track-down complicated logic issues and design effective solutions.

  • Directly impact the player's moment to moment experience in a very tangible way!

Ideally, you''ll have...

  • 4+ years' experience in the games industry working as a Scripter, Level Designer or Mission Designer, shipping at least one title.

  • Experience with text-based scripting, visual scripting, and/or programming languages.

  • A passion for finding the fun and building gameplay driven encounters, moments and experiences.

  • Strong understanding of game engine tools and pipelines such as UE4 / 5, Unity, Maya, etc.

  • A team player-mindset, understanding the importance of collaboration, and able to communicate effectively with all disciplines and departments.

  • A positive, solution-oriented attitude and passion about the play experience, with a wealth of knowledge across a wide range of games.

  • Confidence you can solve any problem.

Pay Transparency - North America

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).

PAY RANGES

  • British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$114,300 - $156,200 CAD
  • California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. San Francisco) *$127,700 - $190,600 USD
  • Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane) *$122,300 - $158,500 USD

Pay is just one part of the overall compensation at EA.

In the US, we offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to temporary full-time employees scheduled to work full time.

In Canada, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, and extended health/dental/vision coverage and basic life insurance.
