Astrion has an exciting opportunity for SENIOR GENERAL/INTERDISCIPLINARY ENGINEER, in support of the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center/PEO Digital Directorate (AFLCMC/HB) located at HANSCOM AFB in BedfordMassachusetts.
The Senior General/Interdisciplinary Engineer will apply engineering theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods to extend or modify existing practices and resolve complex or novel problems. The role requires providing expert advice, developing innovative recommendations, and executing significant engineering efforts across the acquisition lifecycle.
This position supports the design, operation, and sustainment of systems and components from requirements analysis through system disposal and may include support to Foreign Military Sales (FMS).
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
Citizenship: Must be a US citizen
Clearance: Must have and be able to maintain a Secret Level Clearance
Education: Bachelors degree in related engineering discipline, OR 10 years of directly related experience, 6 of which must be in DoD
- Experience supporting engineering and technical efforts within DoD environments
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Education: Master's Degree in a related professional engineer discipline and 5 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline, 3 years must be in the DOD.
- Technical Skills
- Experience with USAF command and control reporting systems, tactical radar, shelter and radome systems, aircraft trainer pods, radios and communication systems, EW systems, or threat emitters
- Network engineering experience within a DoD environment (preferably command and control)
- Interpersonal Skills
- Ability to provide expert guidance and recommendations to leadership
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to evaluate complex technical issues across multiple disciplines
- Effective communication skills supporting collaboration with government and contractor teams
RESPONSIBILITIES
In this Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) role, you will provide expert-level support to Department of Defense (DoD) programs by assisting government leadership with decision-making, planning, and execution throughout the acquisition lifecycle. You will apply your technical and/or professional expertise to ensure compliance with applicable policies and regulations, contribute to mission success, and help deliver critical capabilities to the warfighter.
Duties include, but not limited to:
- Apply engineering principles to extend or modify theories, concepts, and standard practices
- Resolve unique or complex technical problems and provide innovative solutions
- Provide expert advice to colleagues and government officials supporting broad program operations
- Develop and recommend strategies to advance programs, technologies, and engineering methods
- Execute significant engineering projects supporting program objectives
- Evaluate and assess emerging technologies, trends, and applications for applicability
- Investigate and anticipate issues impacting multiple engineering disciplines
- Support development of new standards, concepts, and approaches to improve program outcomes
- Assess and ensure integrity, quality, economy, and effectiveness of engineering programs
- Recommend solutions to resolve complex, conflicting, or controversial technical issues
- Provide engineering support across the full acquisition lifecycle (requirements through disposal)
- Support design, operation, and sustainment of systems and components
- Support Foreign Military Sales (FMS) activities as required
