Job Category: Engineering

Time Type: Full time

Employee Type: Regular

Percentage of Travel Required: Up to 10%

Type of Travel: Continental US

Anticipated Posting End: 1/1/2099

The Opportunity:

CACI's AGIS Release Train is at the forefront of delivering enterprise geospatial data capabilities in direct support of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA).

Our team designs, optimizes, and governs the spatial data infrastructure that underpins intelligence workflows at scale — converting complex geospatial data into actionable intelligence for our nation's most critical missions.

We work hand-in-hand with NGA mission partners and Agile delivery teams to build systems that are performant, secure, and built to last.

As a Senior Geospatial Database Administrator, you will serve as the technical authority for enterprise database architecture across a multi-team SAFe Agile environment. You will drive database design decisions, establish governance standards, and mentor the next generation of DBAs — all while directly enabling mission outcomes at one of the world's premier geospatial intelligence organizations.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead architecture decisions across relational and NoSQL geospatial platforms, including PostGIS and Oracle Spatial schema design, performance tuning, and indexing strategy
  • Implement and manage cloud-native table formats (Apache Iceberg, Apache Parquet) supporting large-scale geospatial data lake environments
  • Partner with the OpenShift platform team on containerized database deployments and cloud-native operations
  • Define and enforce data governance, access controls, and retention policies in compliance with NGA standards
  • Mentor junior and mid-level DBAs; actively contribute to sprint planning and Program Increment (PI) objectives across the Release Train

Qualifications:
Required:

  • Active TS/SCI Poly
  • 8+ years of database engineering experience, with at least 5 years in geospatial contexts
  • Expert-level PostgreSQL/PostGIS; working proficiency in Oracle Spatial or SQL Server
  • Hands-on experience with NoSQL platforms (MongoDB, Elasticsearch) for spatial data applications
  • Demonstrated production use of Apache Iceberg and/or Parquet in data pipeline environments
  • B.S. in Computer Science, Information Systems, Geography, or related field (equivalent experience accepted)

Desired:

  • Familiarity with OpenShift/Kubernetes for database containerization
  • Experience operating within SAFe or Agile delivery frameworks
