OverviewGFT is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Geotechnical team in Boston, MA . This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Boston office.What You Will DoGFT's Geotechnical Dams & Hydraulics Team provides innovative solutions for foundations, underground construction, earth structures, groundwater resources, dams, and building sites. Our geotechnical engineers and geologists specialize in building and bridge structure foundations, landslides, rock slope stability, and earthen dam stability and seepage. We have completed more than 1,000 subsurface and geophysical projects across the U.S. across a range of project sizes.This is an excellent career opportunity for an experienced, motivated Senior Geotechnical Engineer who thrives in a collaborative team environment. This individual will lead geotechnical engineers and assist project managers in planning and overseeing subsurface explorations and performing analyses for transportation, facilities, water resources and other types of projects. This person will also play a key role in growing our geotechnical capabilities within Massachusetts and help to build our team.In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:Lead geotechnical analysis and design efforts for various projects and facilities including, but not limited to, shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures, tieback anchors, soil nails, slope stability design and/or stabilization.Prepare written reports and documentation, geotechnical correspondence, design and construction drawings and specifications.Plan subsurface explorations and laboratory testing investigations.Develop proposals and participate in other business development activities.Assist senior staff in managing client relationships, including business and new client development to expand the breadth of our existing services.What You Will Bring To Our FirmBachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering is requiredProfessional Engineer (P.E.) license in Massachusetts10-15 years of geotechnical experience with an emphasis in design and development of geotechnical deliverables including investigation and design reports, drawings, and specificationsExperience preparing MassDOT reports and design documents for roadway, bridge, retaining wall, and related infrastructure, along with similar experience with other local agencies including: MBTA, Massport, CTDOT, RIDOT and MaineDOTExperience in slope stability analysis, shallow and deep foundation design including axial and lateral capacity, retaining structure design, settlement, etc.Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, gINT, APILE, LPILE, GRLWEAP, SHAFT, and Slope/W (or similar)Strong analytical and report writing skillsStrong verbal communication skills and ability to work independently and within a team environmentStrong leadership ability and personal initiativeMust have current Driver's LicenseWhat We Prefer You BringMaster's Degree with Geotechnical focusField experience with construction observation for highway and transportation projectsCompensationThe salary range for this role is $120,000 - $175,000.
