Accountant/Bookkeeper
My client is a well-established nonprofit organization dedicated to delivering impactful programs and services that strengthen communities across New York. With a collaborative culture and mission-driven leadership team, the organization is committed to financial stewardship, operational excellence, and creating meaningful social impact.
Manage accounting and reporting for government, foundation, and private grants. Monitor grant budgets and expenditures to ensure compliance. Prepare grant billings, reimbursements, and financial reports. Reconcile grant activity and maintain supporting documentation. Assist with month-end close, audits, and annual budgeting processes. Partner with program managers on grant spending and financial performance.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 5+ years of accounting experience, including nonprofit grant accounting. Knowledge of nonprofit accounting and grant compliance. Strong Excel and financial systems skills. Excellent analytical and communication abilities. Experience with NYC, NYS, and federal grants. Knowledge of Uniform Guidance and Single Audits.
