Kforce's client, an established, mission-driven nonprofit organization in New York, is seeking a Senior Grant Accountant to join its growing finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and has a strong background in grant accounting, financial reporting, and compliance. Responsibilities:
  • Manage a portfolio of government and private grant funding, ensuring accurate accounting and timely financial reporting
  • Review grant-related financial reports and reimbursement requests for accuracy and compliance
  • Prepare monthly journal entries, revenue accruals, expense allocations, and account reconciliations
  • Partner with program, development, legal, and finance teams to support grant administration and reporting requirements
  • Monitor compliance with grant agreements and applicable funding regulations
  • Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Support external audits, including grant compliance and Single Audit preparation
  • Analyze budget-to-actual variances and provide financial insights to leadership
  • Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, including grant or fund accounting
  • Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles and grant compliance
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial analysis
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
  • Experience supporting audits and budgeting processes is highly preferred

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
