QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree required or a combination of education and experience.
               

Experience:       

  • Five (5) or more years of graphic design and production experience.
  • Must have prior experience working with brand guidelines, experience maintaining brand consistency in marketing/communications.
  • Knowledge of design programs including Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and other industry standard software, goggle, Canva.
  • Must be able to keep up with current developments and trends in areas of expertise.
  • Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • High degree of attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Must have compassion for the district's mission.
RESPONSIBILITIES

BRAND

  • Assist in the creation of Arlington Independent School District's brand guidelines that include appropriate usage of specific fonts, colors, logos, program icons and visual bugs that are public facing.
  • Work closely with the Chief Communications Officer and an outside agency to develop Arlington ISD's new brand story, identity and brand guidelines. Serve as an expert on those guidelines to internal departments to ensure protection of the brand through all visual aspects relating to the district.
  • Responsible for making recommendations related to branding challenges that arise and provide training opportunities around the new brand as they arise.
  • Uphold brand identity by being involved on internal and external projects from conceptualization to completion.
  • Play a key role in the roll-out of new brand guidelines and standards to include a fun and engaging district-wide roll-out event.
     

PRODUCTION

  • Use innovative ideas as they oversee production and completion of creative projects on time and within budget.
  • Design professional, high-quality materials for print and digital initiatives including but not limited to:
  • Marketing materials, district templates in Canva
  • Posters, flyers, save the dates, banners, signs, sponsor recognition, event collateral, recruitment collateral, email marketing headers/graphics, website graphics/light boxes, web images/graphics, advertisements, brochures, administrative stationary, manuals, receipts, forms, third party materials, magnets, clings, co-branding, program templates, building and fleet markings, visual communication infographics, promotional items, social media profiles, event headers, graphics for posts, annual report, holiday Card/ecards, awards
     

COLLABORATION & COMMUNICATION

  • Interact with the Chief Communications Officer and other departmental team members on a daily basis to ensure creative alignment between projects to keep Arlington ISD's brand standards, one voice policy and style guide consistent.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to understand objectives and play an active role in strategy, design and production of collateral materials.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and experience in dealing with individuals at all organizational levels and establishing and maintaining good working relationships.
  • Act in a diplomatic manner when dealing with challenges.
  • Serve as an expert resource and offer design recommendations when appropriate.
  • Ability/experience to present concepts of work in front of groups.
  • Ability to provide accurate and timely updates on design projects.
  • Collaborate with campus and departments to support Canva presentations
     

TIME MANAGEMENT

  • Senior Graphic Designer must have proficient organizational and problem-solving skills to manage multiple projects and prioritize workflow.
  • Responsible for working on various projects simultaneously for many internal departments within Arlington ISD. He/she must be able to adapt quickly to feedback and deliver high-end, multi-layer campaigns with quick turnaround times.
  • Proficient ability to meet demanding, evolving and frequently overlapping deadlines.
  • Ability to manage high volume of work necessary while still creating quality product.
     

VENDORS

  • Ability to work well with outside entities
  • Individual must have extensive experience working with vendors and be an expert at preparing work for print/production.
  • Proficient knowledge of four-color, spot, and digital printing processes and prepress requirements to ensure consistency of Arlington ISD's brand color palette.
  • Effectively negotiate with vendors on behalf of Arlington ISD as needed.
     

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Requires fresh thinker who embrace challenges as well as new methods of design
  • Must be able to present a professional portfolio that includes examples of related work upon request.
  • Attend regular staff meetings, board meetings and participate in team planning sessions
