Senior Group Assistant / Age Group Swim Coach
Location: Lakota Family YMCA, 6703 Yankee Road, Liberty Township, OH 45044
Job Type: Part-Time
Reports to: Head Coach
The Lakota Family YMCA is hiring a passionate and skilled Senior Group Assistant / Age Group Swim Coach to lead practices, support competitive development, and build a strong team culture. This is a great opportunity for an energetic coach who enjoys working with youth and is excited to contribute to a values-driven aquatic program.
Lead one or more age group swim practices, aligned with training goals and swimmer development.
Assist the Head Coach with Senior Group practices, helping high-level athletes grow in and out of the pool.
Design and deliver structured season plans and daily workouts for age group swimmers.
Offer individual feedback to athletes on technique, form, and race strategies.
Attend swim meets and practices consistently throughout the season.
Communicate regularly and clearly with swimmers, parents, and fellow coaches.
Promote an environment that reflects YMCA values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
Model safety and professionalism while enforcing all YMCA policies and emergency protocols.
Minimum age: 18
Must pass a background check per YMCA guidelines
Ability to obtain YMCA swim coach certification (or currently certified)
Ability to obtain and maintain the following (training may be provided):
Lifeguard Certification
CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
First Aid Certification
Prior coaching experience with age group swimmers strongly preferred
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
Competitive swimming background is a plus
Commitment to long-term swimmer development and fostering a love for the sport
