Paramount Careers - Senior Growth Marketer, The Free Press

The Free Press is looking for a Senior Growth Marketer to help drive smarter decisions across growth, marketing, product, and editorial. This role will sit on the Growth team and report directly to the Director of Subscription Growth. This is a hybrid role that blends analysis with marketing execution. We're looking for someone who can think creatively, strategically and analytically, and also roll up their sleeves as a hands-on marketing tactician. Our ideal candidate is an AI-native operator who is passionate and skilled in adopting emerging AI tools to accelerate data analysis, workflow automation, and decision-making. This person should instinctively see around the corner-identifying how AI can unlock faster experimentation, deeper insights, and scalable automation that increases velocity and productivity across the organization. They should not just use AI tools, but actively rethink how work gets done in an AI-augmented growth environment.

What You'll Do

As an analyst, you'll own the performance and conversion funnel end-to-end, with a mandate to arm the business with data-driven insights and to surface opportunities we can act on quickly.

As a marketer, you'll roll up your sleeves to help plan, execute, and optimize growth initiatives across paid, email, and on-platform surfaces.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Analyze the full subscriber funnel to surface clear, actionable insights into subscriber behavior, content performance, and growth and product levers.
  • Analyze conversion and LTV across paid media, email, product, and editorial.
  • Conduct campaign analysis across all marketing channels to inform budget allocation.
  • Build and utilize meaningful user segmentation based on behavior and attributes.
  • Support paid, email, and product marketing efforts as a strategist and executor, including being hands-on in paid social, search, and email platforms.
  • Be an owner of the business. Be creative, strategic, and proactive to drive growth outcomes.

Who You Are

  • 3+ years of experience in a relevant role (business analyst, data analyst, growth marketer, or similar).
  • Experience working in performance and/or subscription marketing and startups or media businesses.
  • Deep comfort and fluency using AI tools for data analysis, experimentation, and workflow automation-and a proactive mindset toward integrating new AI systems to drive performance across growth, marketing, and product.
  • Strong analytical skills, Excel and SQL or Python required.
  • Media buying experience preferred, but not required.
  • Comfortable working across imperfect datasets and turning them into clear insights.
  • Highly autonomous, curious, and intrinsically motivated.
  • Able to learn new subject areas quickly and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Desire to partner cross-functionally with other teams, including product, engineering, data, creative, editorial, and finance.
  • Mission-driven: ideally already a Free Presser, or deeply aligned with our values.

About Us

The Free Press Media, a multimedia platform, serving majority of Southern Minnesota with reliable and trusted news for over 100 years. We believe in having a strong community which starts with simply enjoying what you do in that community. Here at the Free Press, we are constantly working on creative new ways to engage the community in fun yet beneficial reading material as well as local events such as our famous Mankato Meltdown weight loss competition.  It's an ever changing industry, leaving it up to our adventurous and talented staff to continue to think outside of the box - which has proven successful from winning several awards and growing our readership!

HISTORY:

The seminal publication actually was the Independent which began in 1857. Six years later, it was bought by Charles Slocum and named the Mankato Union. Then in 1880 the Union and its rival Mankato paper, the Record, merged and became the Mankato Weekly Free Press. It ran as a weekly until that fateful day in 1887 when it became a daily paper, updating the name to the Mankato Daily Free Press. In 1970, the newspaper dropped "Mankato" from its name. In 1940, the word "Daily" was eliminated 40 years earlier.

The last local owner of the paper was Jared How, who sold The Free Press Co. to Ottaway Newspapers Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dow Jones & Co. Ottaway acquired 11 percent of the company in 1977 and the remainder in 1979. In 2002, Ottaway sold The Free Press and other papers to Community Newspaper Holdings Inc. In 2017, CNHI (Community Newspaper Holdings Inc.) merged with Raycom Media Inc. based out of Montgomery, Alabama.

In 2009, acknowledging its multiple media offerings, the Free Press changed to The Free Press Media. It also publishes the MN Valley Business magazine, Mankato Magazine, Kid-Oh! magazine,  and The Land, a Midwest agricultural publication. And it serves its readers through www.mankatofreepress.com which started in 1994 and now ranks as the No. 1 news website in the region.

Besides the numerous state awards for excellence, the FPM was named CNHI's Newspaper of the Year for 2010 and CNHI's Best Website for 2013.
