Senior Hardware Design Engineer (Power Electronics) At GE Aerospace, one of the world's leading providers of jet engines, components, and integrated systems for commercial and military aircraft, we are looking for a Senior Hardware Design Engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of power electronic hardware for advanced aerospace applications in our EPISCenter headquarters at Dayton, OH.Roles and Responsibilities Lead the design of power electronic circuits and hardware assemblies for motor drives, power converters, inverters, and power distribution units.Provide technical leadership on projects, including planning, risk identification, and mitigation for hardware deliverables.Mentor junior engineers in best practices for power electronics design, analysis, testing, and documentation.Design, test, and troubleshoot analog and digital electronics circuits, including analog filters, transistor and op‑amp circuits, interface circuits, signal conditioning, ADCs and DACs, power supplies, microcontrollers, FPGAs, communication interfaces, logic families, and digital memory.Perform switching and linear power supply design at the component level.Design and specify magnetic components (inductors and transformers) for analog circuits.Create EMI‑compliant designs and follow EMC best practices for both analog and digital circuits.Guide PCB layout, defining power planes, critical circuits, and board layout strategies.Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated for assigned projects and tasks in accordance with engineering policies and procedures.Apply knowledge of Digital Signal Processing principles and embedded software as needed for system integration.Use simulation tools such as SPICE, PLECS, MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalents to predict performance, losses, and dynamic behavior.Work with lab equipment and methods for power electronics testing, including oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and electronic loads.Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related accredited field (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 15 years of relevant experience).Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in electrical hardware design.U.S. citizenship or eligible status for access to U.S. export‑controlled information.Desired Characteristics Advanced degree is a plus.Experience in aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated industries.Strong oral and written communication skills.Demonstrated analytical problem‑solving capability.Hands‑on experience in power electronics hardware design for converters, inverters, motor drives, or power supplies.Proficiency in power stage design (DC‑DC, AC‑DC, DC‑AC, AC‑AC), analog and mixed‑signal circuit design, and PCB design principles for high current, high voltage, and EMI/EMC performance.Experience with lab equipment and methods for power electronics testing.Benefits Medical, dental, and vision insurance beginning on the first day of employment.Permissive time‑off policy for newly hired employees.Generous 401(k) plan.Tuition reimbursement.Life insurance and disability coverage.Flexible work arrangements (hybrid schedule) based on business needs; candidates must reside locally for onsite requirements.Additional Information This role requires access to U.S. export‑controlled information; employment is contingent upon proving U.S. person status (U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. citizen, or granted asylee/refugee status).Candidates must reside locally for the hybrid schedule (e.g., 3 days onsite at the Dayton, OH facility and 2 days remote).Equal Opportunity Employment GE Aerospace is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
