Build Technology That Changes Lives

At Safer Foundation, technology powers opportunity. For more than 50 years, we've helped individuals rebuild their lives through employment, education, and supportive services. Now, we're launching the Safer Pathways Center, an innovative behavioral and mental health treatment facility, and we're looking for an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer to help build the secure, reliable technology foundation that will support exceptional patient care and transform lives.

This is a rare opportunity to help design and support the technology infrastructure for a growing healthcare organization while partnering with one of the nation's leading nonprofit reentry organizations. If you're passionate about enterprise infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud technologies, and building systems that truly make a difference, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Do

As our Senior Healthcare IT Infrastructure Engineer, you'll serve as the technical lead responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and supporting the infrastructure that powers both the Safer Pathways Center and Safer Foundation.

You'll:

  • Design and maintain secure enterprise network infrastructure, servers, cloud environments, and Microsoft technologies.
  • Lead cybersecurity and HIPAA compliance initiatives, ensuring systems meet healthcare security and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage Microsoft 365, Azure, Active Directory, Entra ID, Intune, and related enterprise technologies.
  • Support business continuity through disaster recovery, backups, monitoring, and infrastructure resilience.
  • Partner with clinical, operational, and technology leaders to deliver innovative, secure solutions that support patient care and organizational success.
  • Serve as the senior technical escalation point for complex infrastructure and security issues while driving continuous improvement across the technology environment.

What You Bring

We're looking for a hands-on infrastructure professional who combines deep technical expertise with a passion for solving complex challenges.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • 7+ years of enterprise IT infrastructure or systems engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting healthcare or other HIPAA-regulated environments.
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft technologies, cloud infrastructure, networking, identity and access management, and cybersecurity.
  • Experience with Azure, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra ID, Intune, networking, firewalls, virtualization, and enterprise infrastructure.
  • A collaborative mindset, strong communication skills, and a commitment to delivering secure, reliable technology solutions.

Why Join Safer Foundation?

When you join Safer Foundation, you're joining a mission-driven organization where your work has a lasting impact. You'll help build the technology that supports life-changing healthcare services while contributing to an organization that has transformed thousands of lives across Illinois for more than five decades. You'll work alongside passionate professionals, tackle meaningful technical challenges, and play a key role in shaping the future of technology for both healthcare and community reentry services.

If you're looking for an opportunity where your expertise matters, and where your work truly makes a difference, we encourage you to apply.
