Senior Estimator

A large heavy civil general contractor is seeking a Senior Estimator to join its growing team in West Palm Beach, Florida. This is a high-impact opportunity with a well-established contractor known for delivering complex heavy civil and infrastructure projects throughout Florida. The Senior Estimator will play a key role in leading large-scale bid efforts, supporting strategic growth initiatives, and collaborating directly with executive leadership, operations teams, and clients.

The ideal candidate brings strong heavy civil estimating experience, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is comfortable managing complex pursuits from preconstruction through final negotiations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage full-cycle estimating efforts for large heavy civil and infrastructure projects throughout Florida
  • Oversee bid preparation, pricing strategy, scheduling coordination, and proposal development for projects ranging from approximately $5M–$100M+
  • Review drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and contract documents to develop accurate and competitive estimates
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, project management, and operations teams throughout the bid process
  • Develop conceptual budgets, detailed cost estimates, value engineering alternatives, and CPM schedules
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, scope reviews, client presentations, and final negotiations
  • Support bid closeout activities, cost budgeting, and bid-to-project turnover upon award
  • Track awarded work and assist with pricing change orders, extra work, and contract modifications as needed
  • Maintain estimating databases, productivity assumptions, and historical cost information
  • Mentor and support junior estimators while contributing to continuous process improvement initiatives
  • Partner with business development and leadership teams on strategic pursuits and long-term growth planning
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of construction estimating, engineering, and/or cost control experience, including at least 5+ years focused within heavy civil construction
  • MUST HAVE experience with FDOT and/or other municipal or public agency projects
  • Strong experience estimating large-scale infrastructure and civil construction projects
  • Background with heavy civil scopes including excavation, demolition, foundations, support of excavation, utilities, concrete, roadway, bridge, or infrastructure improvements strongly preferred
  • Ability to independently lead complex estimates and coordinate cross-functional bid efforts
  • Strong technical, analytical, organizational, and proposal writing skills
  • Proven ability to thrive in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
