Job Description:

The Senior HMI & Emulation Systems Engineer is responsible for the development, configuration, and deployment of Ignition-based HMI solutions and PLC-based emulation environments. This role contributes to delivering consistent operator experiences, improving system reliability, and supporting scalable automation solutions across facilities.

This position focuses on applying established HMI standards, supporting the conversion of legacy systems, and collaborating with internal teams and vendors to ensure high-quality implementations.

A key responsibility of the role is leveraging Emulate3D to build PLC-based emulation models that validate system functionality prior to deployment. This includes testing control logic, device interaction, alarms, and operational scenarios through the HMI to reduce commissioning risk and improve system performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and configure Ignition HMI applications, templates, and visual standards

  • Execute migration activities from legacy HMI platforms to Ignition

  • Build and maintain PLC-based emulation models using Emulate3D

  • Perform system validation including alarms, device interaction, and control logic through emulation

  • Identify and document issues during pre-deployment testing to support commissioning readiness

  • Collaborate with system integrators and vendors to ensure alignment with technical requirements

  • Provide advanced troubleshooting support for HMI and controls systems

  • Contribute to documentation, training materials, and continuous improvement efforts

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with Ignition HMI development and deployment

  • Strong background in PLC-based control systems on both development and deployment

  • Hands-on experience with Emulate3D or similar emulation tools with sited examples

  • Working knowledge of industrial control systems and system integration including industry best practices

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and contribute to technical projects in a cross-functional environment

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $108,720/year to $155,040/year. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to, market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and education/training and a candidate's work experience. Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
