Our client is a fast-growing startup in Miami and on a mission to modernize how projects get built and need a people-first HR leader to grow with them. This is a rare opportunity to join at the ground level, work side-by-side with the company president, and genuinely shape our culture, our people strategy, and the HR function itself.
If you're the kind of HR professional who lights up when handed a blank page then this is your role.
What you'll do...
- Audit, build, and refine HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks from the ground up
- Lead full-cycle recruiting for technical and skilled-trade roles — from sourcing to offer
- Partner directly with the company president on workforce planning and organizational growth
- Develop onboarding, performance, and retention programs that scale with the business
- Ensure HR compliance with federal, state, and construction-industry-specific regulations
- Build the infrastructure for a growing HR division — laying the foundation for your future team
What we're looking for...
- 5–8 years of progressive HR experience, ideally with exposure to construction, skilled trades, or blue-collar industries
- Proven ability to build HR programs and policies from scratch — not just maintain existing ones
- Experience recruiting for technical, field-based, and specialized roles
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a high tolerance for ambiguity and a bias toward action
- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR compliance fundamentals
- Excellent judgment, discretion, and communication skills at every level of an organization
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR certification a plus
Why join our client...
- High-impact, high-visibility role — your work will shape the company directly
- Close partnership with leadership from day one
- Build the HR function on your terms as they scale
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in human resources
- 5+ years' experience in Human Resources
- Strong recruiting and demonstrated ability to improve talent acquisition strategies
- Demonstrated expertise training managers and employees
- Strong organizational, critical thinking and communications skills
- Attention to detail and good judgement
