    About the position:

    The Senior Human Resources Generalist supports the Vice President of Human Resources in carrying out the daily functions of the HR department, including talent processes, benefit and leave of absence management, employee relations, compliance, and HR operations. This role serves as an experienced resource for leadership and staff, providing guidance on complex or sensitive matters while ensuring alignment with agency policies and applicable laws. All HR staff report directly to the Vice President of Human Resources; however, this position provides backup support and may help ensure continuity of HR operations in the absence of the Vice President.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related field
    • Minimum of three (3) years of Human Resources experience required; five (5) years of progressively responsible experience preferred
    • SHRM-CP certification required or must be obtained within the first year of employment
    • Experience with HRIS/HR database systems; experience with ADP Workforce Now is a plus
    • Strong organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and collaboratively
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment and handle sensitive matters with professionalism, diplomacy, and confidentiality
    • Proficiency in using spreadsheets for tracking, reporting, and analysis
    • Working knowledge of benefits-related laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, COBRA, ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, Workers' Compensation)
    • Ability to learn and adapt to new systems, tools, and technologies as needed
    • Physical ability to utilize work processing and computer equipment on a routine basis
    • Ability to hear and speak effectively in communicating with individuals face-to-face and over the telephone
    • Ability to transport self to various agency and community locations
    • Ability to lift supplies and access materials in file cabinets
    • Emotional stamina to handle job related issues and stress
    • Personal vehicle, valid Illinois Driver's License and proof of full insurance coverage
