Senior Human Resources Specialist

SENIOR HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST

Our Senior Human Resources Specialist supports all primary and advanced HR responsibilities, including payroll, benefits administration, employee onboarding and offboarding, HR compliance, employee engagement initiatives, recruiting, and HRIS management. In this key role, you will act as a senior resource for complex employee relations issues, help drive continuous improvement within HR, and support organizational culture and HR strategy while demonstrating the highest commitment to Pima Federal Credit Union's Mission, Vision, and Shared Values.

The Senior Human Resources Specialist supervises and administers all payroll processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Serves as the primary administrator for employee benefits, guiding new hires and ongoing benefits management. This position maintains and updates employee records in the HRIS for accuracy and compliance, leads all aspects of employee onboarding and offboarding, and is a trusted resource for employees on HR policy, benefits, payroll, and employee relations matters. The senior specialist will manage compliance-related matters such as workers' compensation, unemployment claims, employment verifications, and will support audit and reporting requirements. Additionally, help champion employee wellness, serve as FMLA administrator, and complete specialized or confidential administrative projects as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A SENIOR HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience required; Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field is preferred.
  • At least three years of direct experience in Human Resources with advanced knowledge in payroll and benefits administration.
  • A minimum of one-year direct experience in both payroll processing and benefits administration.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel; experience with HRIS is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local HR and payroll regulations and compliance standards.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to maintain confidentiality and act with integrity.
  • Ability to travel to other branches, events, and trainings as needed.
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
