Senior HVAC Service Technician - Founding Team Member

Location: Akron Ohio | Job Type: Full-Time | Compensation: $30-$45/hour, Based on Skills And Experience

About the Role

One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning of South Akron is a newly opened franchise location bringing trusted, national-brand HVAC service to Southern Akron and were looking for an experienced Senior Service Technician to help us build it right from the ground up. Youll be one of our founding team members, setting the standard for craftsmanship and customer service as we grow, and mentoring the technicians and apprentices who join after you.

What Youll Do

• Diagnose and repair furnaces, boilers, heat pumps, air conditioners, and ductwork on residential systems
• Handle the most complex and challenging service calls, including second-opinion and escalated diagnostics
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance, and install new HVAC equipment as needed until we grow large enough to specialize
• Mentor and coach newer technicians and apprentices - teaching diagnostic approach, technique, and professionalism, not just tasks
• Help train incoming team members on company standards, safety protocols, and customer service expectations as the location grows
• Communicate clearly with customers about system issues, repair options, and pricing
• Maintain accurate service records, including work performed and parts used
• Follow all safety protocols and local/state code requirements
• Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency service calls (seasonal, as needed)
• Keep your service vehicle stocked, organized, and well-maintained

What Were Looking For

• 5+ years of hands-on HVAC service/repair experience required - were looking for a seasoned technician, not an entry-level hire
• Demonstrated ability to train, coach, or mentor less experienced technicians
• EPA 608 Certification required
• Valid drivers license with a clean driving record
• Deep working knowledge of electrical, refrigeration, and gas systems across a wide range of equipment types and brands
• Strong troubleshooting skills, sound judgment, and the ability to make the right call under pressure
• Comfortable working in tight spaces, attics, crawlspaces, and outdoor conditions year-round (Ohio weather included!)
• Excellent customer service and communication skills - youll often be the face of a brand-new location in the community
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work on ladders/rooftops

Strongly preferred:

• NATE certification
• Ohio HVAC contractor license, or desire and ability to obtain
• Prior experience as a lead technician, trainer, or crew supervisor
• Experience with smart thermostats and modern controls

Schedule

Full-time, Monday-Friday with seasonal on-call rotation for emergency HVAC calls (nights/weekends as needed).

Compensation: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour
