The University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty department of Radiology is seeking a Senior Imaging Technologist with primary duties in Department of Radiography. Perform diagnostic imaging procedures utilizing advanced imaging technology/equipment, explain examination procedures to patients and monitor their status, and instruct students and staff on examination and equipment operations
External candidates eligible for a sign-on bonus of $10,000.
Duties Include:
- Operate, adjust, and manipulate computerized electronic and mechanical components of computerized axial tomographic equipment.
- Maintain, operate and trouble-shoot and report equipment failures.
- Instruct trainees, students and staff on equipment operation and safety precautions.
- Explain examination process to patients.
- Ensure patients welfare and assist physician with medical procedures
- Perform patient care techniques including skin preparation, I.V. placement, vital sign monitoring and recording, and basic life support; prepare and administer contrast material to patients.
- Maintain records and results of examinations and archive computer data.
- Plan daily, regular and STAT scheduling for efficient room utilization.
- Participate in on-call coverage.
- Assist with inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining quality assurance in accordance with hospital, departmental and clinical unit standards.
- Participate in phantom, human and/or animal research.
- Maintain knowledge of technical developments, software updates, and related subjects by attending meetings, continuing education programs, and participation in professional organizations and/or review journals or publications.
- Perform quality assurance procedures and evaluate systems performance.
- Instruct and/or evaluate the clinical abilities and performance of Radiology Technology or sub-specialty students on a clinical rotation.
- Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or other Allied Health Sciences discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must maintain current certification in American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and/or other radiologic related technological certification and Iowa Permit to Practice as required by the State of Iowa for all technologists operating ionizing radiation emitting equipment.
Desirable Qualifications
- Previous work or clinical education experience in general radiology in a level 1 Trauma center is desired.
- Recent work or clinical education experience in general radiography is desired.
- Recent work or clinical education experience in CT and general radiography is desired.
