Electronic Power Designs (EPD), a Control Associates company, is seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Industrial Control Panel Electrical Engineer to join our growing engineering team in Bloomingdale, NJ. About This Opportunity:
At EPD, engineering quality directly impacts safety, manufacturability, customer satisfaction, and our reputation. As our Senior Industrial Control Panel Electrical Engineer, you'll serve as the technical bridge between customers, engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams. You'll validate design intent, ensure UL and NEC compliance, and ultimately develop into EPD's primary UL Manufacturer's Technical Representative (MTR) - a critical leadership role within our organization.
What You'll Lead and Deliver:
Engineering Design & Compliance:
Review customer-supplied electrical designs for completeness, functionality, safety, manufacturability, and compliance
Interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, panel layouts, and customer specifications
Verify component selection and sizing to ensure compliance with UL standards and National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements
Develop, update, and maintain electrical schematics, panel layouts, and engineering documentation using AutoCAD
Create and maintain accurate bills of material for all panel assemblies
Develop complete engineering release packages to support manufacturing and testing activities
Identify design conflicts, clearance concerns, component compatibility issues, and manufacturability risks before production release
UL Certification Leadership:
Develop deep expertise in UL 508A and UL 698 requirements
Ensure engineering documentation supports successful UL certification activities
Grow into EPD's primary UL Manufacturer's Technical Representative (MTR)
Maintain compliance with all applicable standards and certification requirements
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with customers to resolve technical questions and design concerns
Work closely with mechanics, wiremen, manufacturing supervisors, and quality personnel
Support factory acceptance testing (FAT), troubleshooting, and final product validation
Serve as a trusted technical resource for manufacturing personnel regarding wiring methods, component selection, and quality standards
Participate in project estimating and proposal reviews to improve quality and execution readiness
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and efficiency
What You'll Bring:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related discipline
8-10 years of experience in industrial controls, control panel design, electrical engineering, or systems integration
Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics, control system drawings, and technical specifications
Working knowledge of industrial control panels, power distribution, motor control, and automation systems
Experience developing electrical drawings and engineering documentation using AutoCAD
Understanding of electrical component selection, circuit protection, conductor sizing, and control panel construction
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to engineering quality
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience designing or supporting industrial control panels
Familiarity with UL 508A industrial control panel requirements
Familiarity with UL 698 hazardous location panel requirements
Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements
Experience supporting factory acceptance testing and troubleshooting
Experience in custom engineered-to-order manufacturing environments
Exposure to UL certification processes and documentation requirements
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus

Base Salary range for this role is $100K-$125K, with a bonus potential
