Senior Industrial Maintenance Electrician

Overview

At a leading plastics manufacturer in Manitowoc, WI, your expertise keeps production humming. As the Senior Industrial Maintenance Electrician on our 2nd or 3rd shift team, you’ll own complex electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, execute preventive maintenance (PMs), and return equipment to peak condition—safely and fast. You’ll also mentor teammates, sharing best practices across the craft.

A Day in the Life

You clock in, review CMMS work orders, and prioritize a mix of PMs and reactive tasks. A packaging line calls—an intermittent fault traced to a VFD parameter. You diagnose with meters and software, correct the issue, and document the fix. Later, a pneumatic cylinder drifts; you dig into schematics, rebuild the assembly, and validate performance. Before shift-end, you coach a tech on reading a hydraulic schematic and set up a welder for a small bracket repair. Throughout, you follow all Safety, Health, and Environmental rules without compromise.

What You’ll Tackle

• Execute work orders and PMs with precision; restore equipment quickly and accurately.
• Lead electrical diagnostics using indicators, gauges, meters, and test equipment.
• Troubleshoot and program VFDs and PLCs to resolve production issues.
• Repair mechanical and electronic production equipment—adjust, repair, or replace components as needed.
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Operate shop machinery and hand tools: drill press, grinders, band saws, cutting torch, welder, and more.
• Safely operate forklifts and aerial platform lifts to complete maintenance tasks.
• Apply knowledge of steam systems and boiler operations to adjust valving and equipment safely.
• Use a computer to research parts, access manuals, and manage work/inventory through a CMMS.
• Cross-function between electrical and mechanical work; train and mentor other technicians.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• EITHER 5+ years of strong industrial electrical experience plus formal training (Journeyman card, related certification, or degree) OR 7+ years of equivalent experience in lieu of formal training.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting and programming VFDs (required).
• Experience troubleshooting PLCs; programming preferred (required).
• Fluency in interpreting electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics and blueprints (required).
• Familiarity with industrial power transmission components—motors, engines, hydraulic/pneumatic sources, gears, belt drives, etc. (preferred).
