Senior Industrial / Process Engineer
Newark, NJ, Full-Time | Onsite
Hours: 7:30am-4:30pm
Estimated Compensation: $150,000 – $200,000+ (calibrate based on experience)
The Business Problem
The company operates a large-scale manufacturing facility where production efficiency, material flow, equipment utilization, and process consistency directly impact throughput, profitability, and customer delivery performance.
As production volumes continue to grow, the business needs a senior engineering leader who can identify constraints, redesign processes, optimize facility layouts, improve material flow, and implement scalable manufacturing systems that support continued growth.
The cost of failure is significant: reduced throughput, inefficient labor utilization, increased downtime, wasted capacity, and operational bottlenecks that limit the plant's ability to scale.
This role exists to own manufacturing process performance and drive measurable improvements across the operation.
What You Own
Manufacturing Process Performance
Own production efficiency, throughput, workflow optimization, and operational performance across the facility
Identify bottlenecks, process constraints, and inefficiencies limiting production output
Drive measurable improvements in productivity, cycle times, labor utilization, and manufacturing consistency
Establish engineering-driven solutions that improve quality while increasing throughput
Facility Layout & Material Flow
Own facility layout optimization to maximize space utilization and production capacity
Design and improve material flow systems that reduce waste, travel time, and production delays
Evaluate equipment placement, workflow design, and manufacturing flow to support future growth
Ensure the facility is structured for efficient and scalable production
Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
Lead plant-wide continuous improvement initiatives
Implement standardized processes that improve repeatability and operational discipline
Develop data-driven solutions that reduce variability, downtime, and operational inefficiencies
Build systems that create sustainable long-term improvements rather than temporary fixes
Automation & Capital Projects
Evaluate automation opportunities that improve productivity and reduce operational constraints
Develop capital expenditure justifications and ROI analyses for equipment investments
Lead implementation of process upgrades, system improvements, and engineering projects
Ensure investments generate measurable operational and financial returns
Technical Leadership
Serve as a technical leader across manufacturing operations
Mentor engineers, supervisors, and production teams on process improvement methodologies
Raise engineering standards throughout the organization
Promote a culture focused on ownership, accountability, and measurable results
Must-Haves
Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline
Proven experience improving manufacturing processes within a production environment
Experience optimizing workflows, throughput, and operational efficiency
Experience designing or improving facility layouts and material flow systems
Strong understanding of manufacturing equipment, production systems, and process controls
Experience leading cross-functional engineering or continuous improvement initiatives
Ability to utilize manufacturing data to drive operational decisions
Experience developing ROI analyses and business cases for process improvements
Hands-on manufacturing floor experience
Preferred Experience
High-volume manufacturing environment
Lean Manufacturing
Six Sigma
Automation implementation
AutoCAD
Capital equipment projects
Continuous Improvement leadership
Success Metrics
Success in this role will be measured by:
Increased production throughput
Reduced manufacturing cycle times
Improved labor productivity
Improved equipment utilization and OEE
Reduced downtime and operational disruptions
Reduced scrap, waste, and rework costs
Improved facility utilization and material flow efficiency
Successful implementation of process improvement initiatives
Successful delivery of automation and capital projects
Measurable cost savings and operational improvements generated through engineering initiatives
Why This Role Matters
This is not a maintenance engineering role.
This is a high-impact manufacturing leadership role responsible for improving how the plant operates, scales, and performs.
You will be trusted to identify opportunities, challenge existing processes, implement improvements, and drive measurable operational results across a large manufacturing environment.
If you have successfully improved throughput, optimized manufacturing systems, redesigned workflows, implemented automation, and delivered measurable business impact, we would like to speak with you.
