Title: Senior Industrial Refrigeration (HVAC/R) Technician
Location: North Chicago, IL
Hire Type: Contract, Onsite
Schedule: 6:00am – 2:30pm, Monday - Friday
Target Pay Range: $40.00 - $45.00/hour (W2)

Job Summary:
The Maintenance Technician (HVAC/R) is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing refrigeration and HVAC systems to ensure reliable facility operations and temperature-controlled pharmaceutical production environments.
Job Duties:
- Maintain, service, troubleshoot, and repair refrigeration and chiller systems including centrifugal, screw, and positive displacement compressors.
- Install, maintain, and repair walk-in coolers and freezers to ensure proper temperature control and product preservation.
- Diagnose and repair BAS-controlled components including transducers, actuators, valves, dampers, controller boards, pressure switches, and environmental sensors.
- Interpret electrical schematics and safely work with 24VAC, 120VAC, and 460VAC systems.
- Perform refrigeration diagnostics including superheat and subcooling calculations to optimize system performance.
- Troubleshoot smart refrigeration controllers such as Beacon II and IntelliGen (preferred).
- Support commissioning, validation, and startup of HVAC/R systems.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve equipment issues and improve system reliability.
- Participate in safety initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
- Train and support other technicians on advanced HVAC/R tasks as needed.
- Complete additional maintenance duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED with 10+ years, or technical certificate with 5+ years, or Associate’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Universal EPA certification required.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC/R systems including chillers, compressors, pumps, and water flow systems.
- Experience with BAS controls and industrial electrical troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with HVAC/R validation and commissioning processes.
- Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills.
