This Department of War enterprise data and analytics program delivers mission-critical capabilities that enable leaders across the Department to make faster, better-informed decisions using trusted data at scale. Leidos Digital Modernization sector is seeking an experienced Senior Information System Security Engineer to support the delivery, enhancement, and adoption of enterprise data and analytics products used across multiple DoD organizations.

In this role, you will work alongside government partners, engineers, and other industry teammates to translate operational and strategic requirements into scalable, production-ready solutions. You will contribute directly to product planning, execution, and continuous improvement-helping ensure capabilities are delivered efficiently, aligned to mission priorities, and positioned for sustained success.

This position offers the opportunity to work on a high-visibility, enterprise program at the intersection of data, analytics, and emerging AI technologies. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement cybersecurity controls within system architectures in alignment with NIST SP 800-53, RMF, and DoD policies.

  • Validate and verify system security requirements and establish system security baseline designs for major system elements and all system interfaces.

  • Establish, manage, operate, and maintain DoD RMF compliant processes and procedures for evaluating and authorizing changes to the System.

  • Collect, review, assess, and provide feedback on System cybersecurity architecture and engineering artifacts.

  • Collect, review, assess, and provide feedback on System cybersecurity Body-of-Evidence (BOE) results required to support the DoD RMF cybersecurity authorization process.

  • Conduct periodic compliance scanning of the runtime System to meet all DoD periodic cybersecurity monitoring requirements.

  • Support Government cybersecurity officials in preparing cybersecurity packages, including Interim Authority to Test (IATT) packages, Authority to Operate (ATO) packages, and Change Requests (CRs).

  • Develop and implement security policies, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance with DoD regulations.

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure security measures are integrated into the system development lifecycle.

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on cybersecurity best practices and risk management.

  • Oversee the development and maintenance of security documentation and reports.

  • Ensure continuous improvement of security processes and procedures.

  • Conduct security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies.

  • Stay current with emerging security threats and technologies to ensure the System remains secure and compliant.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret (TS) clearance with SCI eligibility.

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Assurance, Engineering, or related technical discipline OR equivalent training/experience aligned to DoD 8140 pathways.

  • At least one of the following foundational qualification pathways consistent with DoD 8140 requirements:

  • Current DoD 8570/8140 baseline certification appropriate for Intermediate Information Systems Security Manager roles (e.g., CAP, CASP+, CISSP, or equivalent),

  • Offerings listed in the DoD 8140 Training Repository,

  • Demonstrated equivalent training and experience qualifying under DoD 8140 foundational qualification alternatives.

  • 8-12 years of relevant experience in cybersecurity engineering, system security engineering, or related roles.

  • Experience with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NIST 800-53 Rev 4 or Rev 5.

  • Experience integrating cybersecurity controls into system architecture and development processes.

  • Experience supporting RMF processes including system authorization and continuous monitoring.

  • Experience developing and maintaining cybersecurity documentation and artifacts (e.g., SSPs, POA&Ms, BOE).

  • Experience implementing security controls aligned with NIST SP 800-53 and DoD cybersecurity requirements.

  • Experience supporting DevSecOps or secure software development environments.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience in preparing cybersecurity packages, including IATT and ATO packages.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI with CI Poly clearance.

  • Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field.

  • Experience with DoD systems and environments.

  • Knowledge of JIE (Joint Information Environment) or similar frameworks.

  • Experience with cloud-based security solutions and architectures.

  • Familiarity with advanced cybersecurity tools and technologies.

  • Experience in developing and implementing security policies and procedures.

  • Strong project management skills and experience with Agile methodologies.
