GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking a Senior Inspection and Safety Specialist for the Employee Safety Program, to ensure a safe working environment for all WYDOT employees through training, certifying, and instructing formal and informal training classes. This position will be located in Northern Wyoming.
The successful candidate will work with various programs throughout the department to update and develop safety processes, policies, and procedures for a variety of job tasks. They will work collaboratively with the District Safety Representatives to provide guidance to employees that address safety issues in the workplace. The Senior Safety Specialist will assess risk and recommend corrective actions to mitigate hazards. They will collaborate with program leadership and recommend solutions to safety and health issues, consult to find areas of improvement and help implement new safety measures.This position offers:

Qualifications
PREFERENCES/AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
The Agency prefers individuals with one or more of the following credentials: Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), OSHA 510, and 511
Agency requires OSHA 10/30 Instructor certification (OSHA 500 or 501) or the ability to gain authorization under OSHA's requirements, First Aid/CPR (Adult, Child, Infant) certification, AED Instructor
Agency requires applicant possess a valid drivers license

Bachelors Degree
Experience:
0-3 years of progressive work experience (typically with OSHA) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Inspection and Safety Specialist
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically with OSHA) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Inspection and Safety Specialist
