Training Specialist 3 - Senior Instructional Designer

Location: Irwindale, CA

Onsite Flexibility: Remote preferred local to Southern California for equipment pick up

  • Pay Rate: $16.00 $39.39 / Hour (USD)

Job Summary

Become a Senior Instructional Designer and build a better tomorrow. In this job, play a key role in the strategic direction of the HR Enterprise Learning & Development group (ELD) to ensure that the client workforce between EL&D and OU partners possesses the knowledge and skills required to work in accordance with corporate and regulatory compliance requirements. As a Senior Instructional Designer, your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions, and create cleaner air for everyone.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of learning programs using proven ID models, practices, and methodologies.
  • Consult with senior leaders and training delivery partners to close knowledge and skill gaps within the organization.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize and align learning projects to strategic initiatives and departmental goals.
  • Build and manage productive relationships with internal groups and OU stakeholders.
  • Analyze, design, and develop new training curricula, participant guides, job aids, and assessments that are complex in nature.
  • May conduct job task analysis and Train the Trainer sessions.
  • Maintain/revise existing curricula and learning assets (including assessments).
  • Work with internal clients and subject matter experts to determine program and learning objectives. Will design and develop learning assets.
  • Must possess strong analytical and project management skills and have great attention to detail. May work as part of a larger project team and work with multiple stakeholders. Will develop training design documents.

Required Skills

  • Must have a working proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and e-learning software.
  • Must have at least five years of experience developing learning assets.

Preferred Skills

  • Prefer candidate with experience developing craft training content or maintaining complex technical curricula.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in instructional design, graphic design, instructional technology, or equivalent work experience (preferred).

Required Experience

  • Five years of experience with instructional design, graphic design, and/or learning technology.

Nice-to-Have Experience

  • Experience applying adult learning theory, including measuring outcomes of learning.
  • Experience managing complex technical curriculum maintenance and/or programs.
  • Experience developing technical training for new and existing employees.
  • Analytical and project management skills and great attention to detail.
  • Experience consulting with stakeholders to understand performance and skill gaps, determine learning solutions, and link to goals.
  • Experience managing client relationships.
  • Experience leading teams.
