Position Summary
The Senior Instructor for Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps is responsible for leading the instructional program and implementing activities for high school students working toward careers in the armed forces. The instructor is responsible for meeting the unique needs of the students assigned to the program and prepares students for careers in the armed forces.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree or higher preferred.
Experience:
Must be a retired United States Army Officer, certified by the United States Cadet Command.
Skills/Other:
Demonstrates appropriate teaching strategies for all students. Demonstrates an understanding of adolescent developmental patterns. Demonstrates a commitment to GISD mission, purpose, belief statements and learning principles. Possesses a strong working knowledge of subject matter and current research on learning. Possesses a high level of skill in developing stimulating student assignments and varied student assessment vehicles. Possesses an ability to develop and reinforce a positive self-concept in each student. Exhibits self-control, mature judgment, congeniality, and ethical standards in all working relationships. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written communications. Ability to utilize district technology and work to maintain proficiency, as required skill sets change with technology and/or the needs of the district. Ability to assess and determine the appropriate use of a variety of student standards in all working relationships. Demonstrated mental/physical ability and stamina for meeting the essential duties of the position. Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism at all times. Punctuality and good attendance are requirements for the position. Ability to work a flexible work day, work week, and work year. Ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions in accordance with GISD board policies and established administrative guidelines.
