This is an opportunity for an experienced controls engineer who wants to do more than sit behind a desk designing panels. You’ll have ownership throughout the project lifecycle — from equipment selection and controls design through programming, fabrication, commissioning, troubleshooting, and customer support.
You’ll join a collaborative engineering environment where you can:
- Design controls and instrumentation for custom-engineered industrial systems
- Work directly with Project Engineering, Sales, Operations, panel shops, field service teams, and customers
- Own PLC/control solutions from initial concept through commissioning
- Work with a variety of PLC, HMI, instrumentation, VFD, burner management, and process control technologies
- Solve challenging field and application problems rather than repeatedly designing the same system
- Identify design improvements and cost-saving opportunities that directly impact the business
Job DetailsWhat You’ll Do
- Design instrumentation and control systems for custom-engineered industrial equipment, including control panels, electrical schematics, I/O lists, and system documentation
- Develop and modify PLC and HMI programs using platforms such as Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, GE, and Modicon
- Review P&IDs and control narratives and select instrumentation, VFDs, pumps, fans, control valves, and other system components
- Work with panel fabricators from initial design through drawing review, fabrication, testing, and final as-built documentation
- Support equipment testing, commissioning, and field troubleshooting, including wiring, PLC/HMI, instrumentation, and control system issues
- Partner with Project Engineering, Sales, Operations, and Field Service throughout the project lifecycle
- Interface directly with customers to resolve technical issues and make controls modifications when required
- Identify opportunities to improve system performance, reliability, and cost
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of controls engineering experience within OEM, custom-engineered equipment, or industrial process environments
- Strong PLC programming experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, GE, and/or Modicon
- Experience designing industrial control panels, electrical schematics, and instrumentation/control systems
- Strong understanding of P&IDs, process controls, VFDs, instrumentation, and industrial electrical systems
- Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and other applicable industrial electrical standards
- Ability to support equipment commissioning and troubleshoot electrical and controls issues in the field
Preferred Experience
- Burner management, combustion controls, or burner safety systems
- Knowledge of NFPA 86, including burner safeties and interlocks
- Honeywell 7800 / Siemens LMV5
- UL 508A experience; MTR qualification is a plus
- Safety PLC and/or HMI programming experience
- AutoCAD Electrical and/or EPLAN experience
