    Senior Interventionist - School Based - Jean Garvin School (INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY)

     

    The Jean Garvin School provides a therapeutic, education program offering unique learning opportunities to inspire personal change and well-being for adolescents, age 12-18 years, grades 7-12. The goal of the program is to provide a safe educational and therapeutic environment that helps students achieve success in school, in the community, and at home.

    Senior Interventionists provide daily coverage as needed to ensure clients receive services in the absence of an Interventionist (i.e. when they utilize CTO, interim coverage until an interventionist is identified to join a team, start-up of new clients etc.) Provide leadership and guidance to new and less experienced staff. Assists in training interventionists in formal program trainings and on the job. Respond to student crisis, and aid in debrief with administers across settings. 
     

    Provide intensive, specialized instructional and behavioral treatment. Help support services to children with emotional, behavioral, developmental and/or intellectual disabilities. Services are delivered in school and community settings and target the teaching/shaping of essential communication, social, adaptive, daily living and functional learning skills

    Responsibilities

    • Provide 1:1 and/or group support to assigned children in accordance with individual treatment goals
    • Teach social and adaptive behavior/emotional skills and living skills
    • Establish positive, therapeutic relationship with children, and counseling as needed
    • Collaborate with educational, Human Service professionals, and caregivers
    • Use Therapeutic Crisis Intervention to maintain a safe environment and to de-escalate a crisis
    • Have effective oral/written skills, and the ability to perform autonomously
     

    Requirements

    • 1 year combination of experience, skills and/or education
    • Valid driver's license and use of a personal vehicl

    Structure:

     
    • Full-time
    • 217 day annual calendar including:
      • School year (175 days) with paid days off during school vacations
      • 4 week summer program
      • 2+ weeks in-service for ongoing professional development
    • AFSCME Union (dues will apply) 
    • Starting at $23.89
    • We offer a competitive salary commensurate to experience
