This role requires strong expertise in both finished goods and raw material inventory, along with close partnership with operations to ensure accurate reporting, cost integrity, and compliance with accounting standards.This position plays a critical role in establishing best practices, maintaining accurate inventory records, supporting operational teams, and serving as a key liaison with external auditors on inventory-related matters.Key ResponsibilitiesInventory Management (Aggregates, Ready Mix, Asphalt)Oversee finished goods inventory processes, including item master setup and maintenanceReconcile physical-to-book inventory, including volumetric and drone-based measurementsCalculate and post inventory adjustments based on physical counts and analysisPartner with operations to ensure accurate stockpile measurement and costing assumptionsDevelop and maintain standard costing models and analyze cost changesMonitor raw material usage, yield, and shrinkage; investigate and resolve variancesPerform monthly inventory reconciliations and resolve discrepanciesParts and Supplies InventoryOversee accounting and control of parts and supplies across plants, shops, and maintenance facilitiesMaintain accurate inventory balances by location and proper classification of inventory vs expenseImplement and manage cycle count programsReconcile subledger to general ledger and ensure data integrityAnalyze usage trends, slow-moving inventory, and recommend reserves or write-offsMaintain item master data including costing, units of measure, and categorizationProcess Improvement, Audit, and ComplianceDevelop and standardize inventory accounting procedures across business linesIdentify and implement process improvements and system enhancementsEstablish and maintain internal controls over inventory processesServe as primary point of contact for external auditors related to inventoryPrepare audit schedules, documentation, and support requestsEnsure compliance with GAAP and company policiesCollaboration and Business SupportPartner with operations, plant managers, and finance teams to improve inventory visibility and accuracyProvide insights and reporting to support operational and financial decision-makingRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required5–8+ years of accounting experience with a strong focus on inventory accountingDirect experience in aggregates, construction materials, mining, or similar heavy industry requiredHands‑on experience with finished goods, raw materials, standard costing, and variance analysisExperience with physical inventory methods including volumetric or drone measurement preferredPreferred QualificationsCPA or CMA designation preferredExperience with ERP systems and industry‑specific platformsKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesStrong analytical and problem‑solving skillsDeep understanding of inventory and cost accounting principlesAbility to translate operational data into financial insightsHigh attention to detail and strong organizational skillsEffective communication and cross‑functional collaboration skillsProactive mindset with a focus on process improvementOffice-based with regular collaboration across operations and plant teamsPeriodic site visits to support inventory accuracy and operational understandingEqual Opportunity EmployerSunrock is an Equal Opportunity Employer and makes all employment decisions without regard to race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, religion, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, marital status, citizen status, or any other legally protected status under local, state, or federal law.#J-18808-Ljbffr
