ABOUT THE ROLE

A leading insurance organization is seeking an Investment Accounting Senior or Manager to support investment accounting and financial reporting activities across a diverse investment portfolio. This role offers exposure to both U.S. GAAP and Statutory (STAT) accounting, investment reporting, process improvement initiatives, and collaboration with investment, finance, and audit teams.

The ideal candidate will have experience within insurance investment accounting or public accounting with financial services clients and possess strong technical accounting and analytical skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Record and reconcile investment transactions and positions to the general ledger
  • Analyze investment activity and provide commentary on balance sheet and income statement fluctuations
  • Investigate accounting discrepancies and recommend corrective actions
  • Partner with trade settlement teams to resolve transaction and interest settlement issues
  • Prepare and review statutory investment schedules, including Schedules A, B, BA, D, DA, DB, and E
  • Prepare and review Supplemental Investment Risk Interrogatories and Summary Investment Schedules
  • Prepare and review investment-related GAAP and STAT footnotes and management reports
  • Monitor and research aged receivable and payable balances
  • Review bank reconciliations and investment account activity
  • Support external audit requests and provide investment accounting documentation
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and assist with control enhancement initiatives
  • Lead and participate in process improvement, automation, and reporting enhancement projects
  • Collaborate with investment, accounting, and finance teams on reporting and operational initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 5 7 years of investment accounting experience
  • Insurance industry experience preferred (Property & Casualty, Life, or Annuities)
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and Statutory (STAT) accounting
  • Experience preparing and reviewing statutory investment schedules (A, B, BA, D, DA, DB, and E)
  • Experience accounting for fixed income, equity, and partnership investments
  • Strong Excel skills including Pivot Tables, lookups, Power Query, and data analysis
  • Experience supporting financial reporting, reconciliations, and audit requests
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Experience with PAM for Securities and/or PeopleSoft is a plus
  • Public accounting candidates with insurance or financial services client exposure are encouraged to apply
