Job Description: Senior IT Infrastructure Architect- Right to Hire
Hybrid in Poughkeepsie, NY


Position Overview
The Senior IT Infrastructure Architect is responsible for designing, modernizing, and optimizing enterprise infrastructure platforms across on premises, hybrid-cloud, and native-cloud environments. This role provides strategic architectural leadership, ensures operational excellence, and guides the adoption of modern infrastructure frameworks, automation, observability, and governance practices that enable secure, scalable, and resilient IT services .

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Architecture & Design
  • Aligns infrastructure technology with future business needs, leading the strategy for technology adoption, upgrades, and modernization.
  • Develops comprehensive blueprints and high-level designs for software, hardware, and network infrastructure, ensuring they meet business and technical requirements.
  • Define infrastructure as code (IaC) & automation tool standards for declarative provisioning and infrastructure lifecycle
  • Lead modernization initiatives including automation, Infrastructure as Code, containerization, monitoring/observability, and AIOps capabilities.
  • Develops and tests disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure systems are resilient and available.
  • Evaluates vendor solutions, selects technology, and collaborates with IT teams to guide the implementation of technical standards

Technology Leadership Operational Excellence
  • Partner with operations, engineering, and security teams to ensure resilient, performant infrastructure services that meet SLAs and compliance requirements.
  • Lead service industrialization efforts, including standardized service catalog patterns, incident and event workflows, guardrails, and operational readiness.
  • Drive process automation across provisioning, monitoring, patching, and lifecycle management.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • BS in computer science or equivalent field of study
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in IT Infrastructure Engineering or Architecture.
  • Deep expertise in hybrid cloud (Azure), virtualization, Windows/Linux platforms, networking, storage systems, and automation frameworks.
  • Strong background in ITSM, service delivery, and operational workflows (ITIL, incident/event/change management).
  • Hands on experience with IaC services, CI/CD pipelining, GIT, Jenkins, Python, JSON, YAML, Terraform, jfrog artifactory, monitoring/observability platforms.
  • Proven experience in project management.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong understanding of network, server, and storage architecture.
  • Proficiency in designing and maintaining data centers.
  • Knowledge of security protocols and best practices.
  • Experience with enterprise-level IT infrastructure planning and development.
  • Strong background in TCP/IP services, platform services, network communications protocols and services, security services.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to translate complex concepts for technical and non technical audiences.
  • Technology certifications such as Azure, ITIL, TOGAF.
