SENIOR IT PROJECT MANAGER

Duties:

Leads projects of very large size and/or high complexity, and/or multiple projects of mixed complexity levels and sizes. May provide support to one or more projects of high complexity as part of a program or portfolio team. 

Manages project with budget responsibility up to (USD)5 million, and may require matrix supervision of staff from other IT departments and divisions, and contractor/vendor resources. 

Responsible for achieving project objectives and completion on time, on budget, and in conformance to enterprise, departmental, and IT methodologies and practices as required. 

Solicits technological input from senior technical resources assigned to their project team(s), and facilitates technology problem-solving activities. 

Works directly with institutional committees and oversight bodies to understand priorities, develop project action plans, facilitate approvals, and work across organizational boundaries to develop and/or implement project proposals that meet the objectives of those groups. 

Supports strategic planning and execution of multi-year initiatives that may involve multiple inter-relationships and complexities, requiring the development and execution of complex communication and management plans to achieve. Makes judgments and takes any reasonable action required to accomplish agreed to project objectives under general guidance. 

Serves as subject matter expert regarding both departmental and institutional project management practices, methods and standards. Leads the ongoing adoption and continued evolution of a Project Focused Culture within the Information Technology department. 

 

Manages multiple competing objectives and communicates complex technical information in clear and unambiguous terms to management and end user personnel. Strictly adheres to budget management and guidelines of both the Information Technology department and the institution.

 

Performs additional job-related functions as detailed by immediate supervisor.

Key responsibilities include:
-Lead complex enterprise-wide clinical imaging initiatives from planning through implementation.
-Manage project scope, timelines, risks, issues, dependencies, budgets, and stakeholder communications.
-Partner with clinical leaders, operational teams, IT teams, and executive stakeholders to ensure project success.
-Coordinate efforts across multiple workstreams and project teams within the Clinical Management Practice.
-Support initiatives related to image capture, storage, retrieval, interoperability, and workflow optimization.
-Facilitate communication between business, clinical, and technical teams to ensure alignment on project objectives and deliverables.
-Provide project governance, status reporting, and executive-level updates.
-Collaborate with other Project Managers and Senior Project Managers supporting related initiatives.

 

Senior IT Project Manager (Clinical Digital Imaging)

Scope:
Join the IT Clinical Practice Management team in support of a high-priority enterprise initiative focused on Clinical Digital Imaging. This program has been identified as a top organizational priority by executive leadership and is centered on optimizing how clinical images are managed outside of the traditional radiology environment.

The Senior IT Project Manager will lead, and coordinate projects focused on improving digital imaging workflows, image storage, retrieval capabilities, data exchange, and supporting technologies across the healthcare enterprise. This individual will partner with clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders to drive project execution, alignment, and successful delivery of strategic objectives. This role is ideal for a seasoned healthcare IT Project Manager who can effectively bridge clinical and technical teams while leading strategic enterprise imaging initiatives that directly impact patient care and operational excellence.


Requirements:
-Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 10 years' experience managing projects ranging from simple to difficult complexity while demonstrating increasing scope and depth of responsibilities, and involving multiple technological environments and/or business areas that IT supports, with demonstrated competency in the application of PMI Process Groups and Knowledge Areas OR A Master's Degree with a minimum of 7 years' experience managing projects involving Information Technology and/or Healthcare disciplines, ranging from simple to difficult complexity while demonstrating increasing scope and depth of responsibilities, and involving multiple technological environments and/or business areas that IT supports, with demonstrated competency in the application of the PMI Process
Groups and Knowledge Areas.

-PMP certification required.
-7+ years of IT Project Management experience leading complex enterprise initiatives.
•-Healthcare IT experience, preferably within a large healthcare system, academic medical center, or integrated healthcare organization.
-Strong experience partnering with healthcare leaders and clinical stakeholders.
-Demonstrated executive presence with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
-Experience managing projects involving clinical imaging, healthcare interoperability, or related technologies.
-Strong knowledge of DICOM standards and digital imaging workflows.
-Experience with HL7 messaging and healthcare data exchange.
-Familiarity with image retrieval, storage, and interoperability solutions.
-Proven ability to manage project lifecycles while aligning with organizational governance and management frameworks.
-Strong stakeholder management, risk management, and cross-functional leadership skills.

Nice to Haves:
-Experience with Epic, particularly data exchange, interfaces, interoperability, and integration efforts.
-Background in healthcare analytics, reporting, or data-driven decision-making.
-Experience supporting radiology, imaging services, or patient care environments involving image capture and management.
-Experience with enterprise imaging platforms and clinical image repositories.
-Residence within driving distance of Rochester, MN.
-Experience leading large-scale digital transformation or clinical technology modernization initiatives.
-Familiarity with enterprise architecture, healthcare integrations, and interoperability frameworks.
