Senior Java Developer Alternative Investments

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Developer with strong expertise in Java API development, AWS cloud infrastructure, and enterprise application modernization to support a large-scale modernization initiative within the BFSI domain.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience building and supporting distributed enterprise applications using Java, AWS, Oracle, and modern DevOps practices. This role will focus on modernizing existing platforms to support increasing business volumes, improve operational efficiency, and deliver scalable, reliable, and high-performing technology solutions.
Candidates with prior experience in Financial Services, FinTech, Brokerage, or Investment platforms are highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable enterprise applications using Java and AWS cloud technologies.
  • Build and enhance RESTful APIs and distributed application services supporting modernized business workflows.
  • Participate in enterprise application modernization initiatives to improve scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and optimize Oracle SQL and PL/SQL database components, including schema design and normalization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional Agile Scrum teams to deliver high-quality technology solutions.
  • Implement and support CI/CD pipelines using modern DevOps tools and cloud-native deployment practices.
  • Develop and maintain containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes/EKS environments.
  • Support observability, monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization using Datadog and Splunk.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, deployment automation, and production support activities.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to support evolving business requirements and operational goals.
Required Skills & Experience
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in Java application development.
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Java
    • AWS Cloud Services
    • REST API design and development
    • Distributed enterprise applications
  • Strong database development experience with:
    • Oracle SQL
    • PL/SQL
    • Database normalization
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD and DevOps tools including:
    • Docker
    • Jenkins
    • GitHub
    • UDeploy
    • Artifactory
    • Terraform
    • Stash
    • EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service)
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as:
    • Datadog
    • Splunk
  • Experience working in Agile Scrum environments.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance) domain experience is required.
  • Prior experience in FinTech, Brokerage, or Investment Management environments preferred.
  • Experience supporting enterprise application modernization initiatives.
  • Familiarity with scalable cloud-native architecture and microservices-based solutions.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced enterprise environments.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
