Senior Java Developer (Back End)

Nexonia continues to grow and we're looking to hire an amazing Senior Back-End Java Developer who will work with an awesome group of developers within our development office in Montreal!

Job description:

The developer will work under the supervision of the Development Manager. The main responsibility will be to work on our suite of application to manage expenses, time as well as other products. We are looking for candidates with a strong technical core Java development background and the drive to learn and expand their knowledge within the financial sector.

• Design and develop integrations with 3rd party systems
• Work on back-end functionalities
• Implement transactional processes that communicate with external transactional components
• Be in charge of design and implementation of all modules Produce documentation for the newly developed modules
• Work in collaboration with the rest of the development team and the QA team to successfully deliver the required features
• Work alongside Customer Support to understand client issues
• Work with the PMO to understand feature development
• Act as technical point of contact and team point of contact
• Provide and submit code reviews, verify code testing and coordinate with the QA team

Candidates should have:

• 7+ years of core Java experience (asset: J2EE development); JDK8 (minimum JDK6)
• 7+ years experience with Relational Database, preferably with Postgres (asset: Oracle, MySQL, MSSQL)
• 5+ years experience writing JDBC queries
• 3+ years experience working with GIT
• 4 or more years working with WSDL and web service, REST (Jackson) and restful services
• 4+ years working with XML and JSON
• 5+ years working with WildFly (JBoss) or Tomcat, JUnit and Mockito
• 2+ years working within a cloud environment
• Ability to translate user needs into clean implementations
• Ability to work independently on projects and deliver with a high-level of quality
• Ability to learn quickly and to adapt to a fast-paced, fast-growth environment
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering (other degrees are acceptable combined with the right experience and personality to be a great technical leader!)

Are considered assets:

• Experience with Ant, Gradle (Artifactory, Ivy)
• Struts 1.3+
• Google Web Toolkit (GWT)
• Dependency Injection Frameworks (Guice, Spring)
• Experience working with Accounting systems or ERP systems
• Experience with messaging infrastructures (RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ) or ESB
• Ability to provide coaching and mentoring to other team members
• Previous experience with SCRUM and Agile environments
• Have previously worked with JIRA, Sonar and Jenkins
