NTT DATA's Client is seeking a Senior Java L3 Application Support Engineer - Core Banking & Payments to join our team in Dallas, Texas (US-TX), United States (US).
Job Description – Senior Java L3 Application Support Engineer – Core Banking & Payments- Provide Level 3 application support for critical banking platforms, including payments, clearing, settlement, digital banking, and related transaction-processing systems.
- Lead troubleshooting and resolution of high-severity production incidents affecting transaction message flows, ledger processing, payment gateways, and other critical banking services.
- Perform code-level debugging of multi-threaded Java applications to identify and resolve complex application defects, data discrepancies, memory leaks, concurrency issues, and performance bottlenecks.
- Conduct detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for critical production incidents and implement appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
- Design, develop, test, and deploy application enhancements, API hotfixes, patches, and structural bug fixes within an Agile Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Analyze application logs, transaction flows, database execution paths, and system behavior to identify and resolve production issues.
- Monitor transaction processing and scheduled Unix/Linux batch jobs to identify failed transactions, processing errors, and abnormal system behavior.
- Troubleshoot and support enterprise Java applications developed using Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and microservice-based architectures.
- Investigate and resolve application integration and financial messaging issues involving RESTful APIs, Apache Camel, JMS, Kafka, ISO 20022, SWIFT, and related technologies.
- Perform advanced database troubleshooting using SQL across Oracle, PostgreSQL, and/or PL/SQL environments, including complex queries, joins, data validation, and indexing analysis.
- Use application monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, Datadog, and Grafana to analyze live production issues and application performance.
- Support application uptime, availability, reliability, performance, and security for business-critical banking platforms.
- Follow established ITIL incident-management, problem-management, and change-management processes.
- Apply secure coding and application support practices to protect sensitive banking and financial data.
- Collaborate with development, infrastructure, database, operations, business, and other technology teams to resolve production issues and implement application changes.
Basic Qualifications:- Minimum 5+ years of experience in enterprise Java application development, application support, production support, or a related technical role.
- Hands-on experience with Java 8/11/17+, including multithreading, collections, object-oriented programming concepts, code-level debugging, and application troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise Java frameworks and technologies such as Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and/or microservices.
- Experience working with RESTful APIs and application integrations.
- Experience with messaging and integration technologies such as Apache Camel, JMS, Kafka, ISO 20022, and/or SWIFT.
- Advanced experience with SQL and relational databases, including complex querying, joins, data analysis, troubleshooting, and indexing validation using Oracle, PostgreSQL, and/or PL/SQL.
- Experience troubleshooting live production systems using monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, Datadog, and/or Grafana.
- Experience performing Root Cause Analysis, production incident troubleshooting, code-level debugging, and application defect resolution.
- Experience supporting Unix/Linux-based environments, including troubleshooting scheduled batch processes and application jobs.
- Experience working within Agile SDLC, incident-management, change-management, and secure coding practices.
- Minimum 1+ year of experience working within Banking or Financial Services, including Investment Banking, Retail Banking, Corporate Banking, Wealth Management, Payments, or a related financial-services environment.
