Legends Field Group (LFG) is seeking an experienced Senior Technician to support our survey and utility projects from the office and help ensure our field crews are properly prepared before they mobilize.


This position plays a key role in lining out field crews, performing project research, reviewing project information, and providing QA/QC of field and office work. The right candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, resourceful, and able to work independently without needing constant direction.


This is not a civil engineering or design position. This role is focused on survey operations, utility projects, research, field preparation, and quality control. Candidates primarily seeking an engineering design or PE-track position are unlikely to be a good fit.


Responsibilities

• Review new projects and determine what information field crews will need before mobilizing.
• Line out and prepare field crews with clear instructions, project limits, scope, research, maps, files, and other necessary project information.
• Perform extensive online research using county, state, federal, utility, GIS, appraisal district, and other available public resources.
• Perform DOT research, including locating and reviewing right-of-way maps, plans, project records, alignment information, roadway documentation, and other available DOT records.
• Research deeds, plats, easements, right-of-way documents, utility records, survey information, and other project-related documents.
• Review project files and identify missing information or potential issues before work is sent to the field.
• Perform QA/QC of field data, research, calculations, exhibits, mapping, and project deliverables.
• Review field crew information for completeness, consistency, and compliance with project requirements.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Surveyors, field crews, drafters, and other technical staff.
• Help troubleshoot field questions and provide crews with additional research or information when conditions change.
• Maintain organized project records and ensure important research and supporting documents are properly saved and communicated.
• Identify potential conflicts, missing information, or project risks and bring them to the appropriate team member's attention.
• Take ownership of assigned work and follow tasks through to completion.

Qualifications

• Several years of experience in surveying, utilities, pipeline, right-of-way, construction, or a similar technical field.
• Strong understanding of how field crews operate and what information they need to successfully complete an assignment.
• Experience performing deed, plat, easement, right-of-way, GIS, and online public-record research.
• Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new research platforms and project systems.
• Excellent attention to detail with a strong QA/QC mindset.
• Ability to review large amounts of information and recognize inconsistencies or missing items.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time.
• Must be a self-starter who can identify what needs to be done and move work forward without constant supervision.
• Ability to solve problems independently while knowing when an issue needs to be elevated.
