The Job

The San Bernardino County Land Use Services Department is looking for a Senior Land Use Services Coordinator who possesses strong verbal and written communication skills to communicate with developers, the public, and Board of Supervisors and can explain or resolve development related issues. The Senior Land Use Services Coordinator, under general administrative direction, functions in a lead capacity over Land Use Services Coordinators; coordinates communication and manages the most complex investigations, complaints, and development projects as needed among the various Land Use Services Department Divisions and other County departments to ensure consistent interpretation and conformance requirements for development projects. This position reports to the Director of Land Use Services.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

San Bernardino County is geographically the largest in the United States and the fourteenth largest in population. The Land Use Services Department is dedicated to ensuring a balance in the areas of housing, business, and recreational needs for the diverse cultures and communities of San Bernardino County. This is accomplished through comprehensive regional planning and enforcement of building standards, land uses, and environmental impacts. The Land Use Services Department continues to improve the quality of life for residents and visitors to San Bernardino County by providing a framework for orderly growth while maintaining the highest level of public safety. We are looking for land use professionals inspired by community-based planning, great customer service, permitting system innovation, interdisciplinary teamwork, and the pursuit of best practices.

Pre-Employment Process: Applicants must successfully pass a background check prior to appointment.

License: Travel throughout the County may be required and employees will be required to make provisions for transportation.

Minimum Requirements

Experience: Candidates must meet one of the qualifying options below.

Option 1: Five (5) years of administrative experience explaining rules, regulations, and ordinances in a development agency or similar environment.

Option 2: Two (2) years of experience as a Land Use Services Coordinator at San Bernardino County OR comparable position in another public sector development agency.

Desired Qualifications

The desired candidate will have experience working in a land development agency with experience in communicating and problem solving in a fast paced environment. Candidates working in a Land Use Environment are desirable.
