    The Opportunity

    We are seeking a Senior Lawyer to join our dynamic in-house legal team within the Office of the General Counsel (OGC) at Monash in its Disputes and Regulatory Law stream. The OGC’s Disputes and Regulatory Law stream provides comprehensive legal services and advice across regulatory matters, litigation and disputes, complex general and research misconduct, investigations, whistleblower advice, complex FOI support and contentious student-related concerns.

    As a Senior Lawyer, you will deliver timely, practical and strategic legal advice to management, senior stakeholders and staff, operating with a considerable degree of autonomy while supporting the University’s objectives. The role involves high-quality legal advice, reviewing, drafting and negotiating a broad range of agreements. Building strong internal and external relationships, you will foster partnerships that support innovation, mentor colleagues on legal matters, and provide specialist support and backfill within the Office of General Counsel as required.

    About You

    As the successful candidate you will be a qualified legal practitioner with at least five years’ post admission experience, ideally in disputes/litigation and regulatory law, within an educational environment. You enjoy working in a complex environment and adapting to a diverse range of matters and priorities on a daily basis. You have a proven ability to work autonomously and understand the importance of delivering exceptional customer service to key internal stakeholders and developing respectful and trusting relationships. Your excellent communication and written skills along with your strong stakeholder management skills will see you succeed in this role.
