Summary

The Senior Lead Electrical Engineer works within cross functional teams, including other designers, customers, manufacturing, and project leadership to ensure robust, high quality product development. In this role, you will research and develop new electrical systems and circuits for various applications, capturing plans through detailed schematics and system specifications. You will be responsible for designs based on reviews for manufacturing, test, and reliability, simulating and validating systems, and providing technical engineering support throughout the entire manufacturing process.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
  • Work on the design, development, and implementation of technical electrical engineering solutions for complex hardware projects.
  • Research system ideas, analyze engineering trade-offs, and recommend electrical modifications to ensure all designs meet rigorous performance standards.
  • Provide technical engineering direction for high-speed hardware design and architecture.
  • Review, interpret, and negotiate customer technical requirements and specifications as the primary engineering contact.
  • Design, modify, and implement electrical systems that meet customer and Celestica requirements.
  • Create detailed schematics, bills of materials, diagrams, and physical board drawings.
  • Ensure all designs and processes comply with relevant industry regulations, EMC and EMI layout requirements, and internal standards.
  • Analyze and interpret complex electrical data and information to create comprehensive engineering reports.


Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • Strong engineering background in compute, storage, or network switching products is highly preferred.
  • Extensive experience in complex high-speed hardware design, architecture, reliability, and failure analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience with high-speed electrical interfaces such as DDRx, PCIe, Ethernet, and high-speed SERDES.
  • Experience designing large 20+ layer count boards featuring 50G plus signals.
  • Expert in PCB design tools Cadence Allegro or Valor Trilogy 5000 and NPI preferred.
  • Expertise in advanced PCB manufacturing technologies, including sequential lamination, HDI, and ultra-low loss materials.
  • Strong knowledge of setting and complying with board and trace constraints for high-density PCB design.
  • Technical engineering expertise in GPU servers and Broadcom chip applications is preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of industry and quality standards including IPC guidelines.
  • Advanced technical problem-solving, multitasking, and excellent oral and written communication skills.


Typical Experience

  • 10 plus years in complex hardware design which can include server, storage, or network switching electrical architectures.


Typical Education

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Educational Requirements may vary by Geography


Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
