Employment Type: Full-Time
Industry: Life Sciences / Biotech / Pharmaceutical / Medical Device / Healthcare
About the Role
Precision Talent Group is seeking an experienced Senior Life Sciences Sales Executive to drive new business development and revenue growth through contract staffing and staff augmentation solutions.
This is a highly entrepreneurial, new-logo sales role focused on identifying companies with immediate or ongoing workforce needs and developing relationships with hiring managers, department leaders, Talent Acquisition, Procurement, and HR.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the Life Sciences industry and be able to quickly identify opportunities to provide highly qualified contract professionals across clinical, regulatory, quality, manufacturing, engineering, laboratory, R&D, commercial, and corporate functions.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Development
- Identify, prospect, and acquire new pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, diagnostics, CRO/CDMO, and healthcare accounts.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of contract staffing and staff augmentation opportunities.
- Conduct outbound prospecting through phone, email, LinkedIn, networking, referrals, and industry events.
- Identify hiring managers and functional leaders with current or anticipated contractor needs.
- Develop new client relationships from initial prospecting through contract execution.
- Generate new requisitions and staffing opportunities within target accounts.
Contract Staffing Sales
- Sell contract and contract-to-hire staffing solutions across Life Sciences functions.
- Develop opportunities for individual contractors as well as project teams and larger staff augmentation programs.
- Understand client hiring requirements, technical qualifications, project timelines, work locations, and budget constraints.
- Partner with recruiting teams to quickly develop qualified candidate pipelines.
- Maintain consistent communication with clients throughout the recruiting and placement process.
- Manage opportunities from initial discovery through placement and account development.
Hiring Manager Relationships
- Build strong relationships directly with hiring managers, department heads, project leaders, and functional executives.
- Become a trusted resource for clients when they need specialized Life Sciences talent.
- Conduct regular business-development meetings to uncover upcoming hiring and project needs.
- Develop relationships beyond individual requisitions to increase account penetration.
- Understand the client's workforce plans and anticipate future contractor requirements.
Account Development & Expansion
- Expand successful staffing relationships into additional departments, functions, and locations.
- Identify opportunities for multiple contractors, project teams, and recurring staff augmentation.
- Develop relationships with Procurement and Talent Acquisition to expand account access.
- Convert individual placements into broader staffing partnerships.
- Maintain a consistent focus on increasing contractor headcount and revenue within strategic accounts.
Market Development
- Stay current on Life Sciences hiring trends, project activity, facility expansions, clinical development, manufacturing initiatives, and regulatory activity.
- Identify companies likely to require temporary or project-based talent.
- Develop target-account strategies based on industry activity and workforce demand.
- Build a network of Life Sciences professionals and industry contacts to support business development and recruiting efforts.
Sales & Commercial Management
- Conduct client discovery meetings and develop staffing solutions aligned with client needs.
- Prepare proposals, pricing, statements of work, and other commercial materials.
- Negotiate bill rates, terms, and commercial agreements within company guidelines.
- Partner with recruiting and operations teams to ensure successful delivery.
- Maintain accurate CRM activity, pipeline information, forecasts, and sales reporting.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of successful B2B sales experience, preferably in staffing, recruiting, professional services, or workforce solutions.
- Proven success selling contract staffing, temporary staffing, staff augmentation, or project-based talent solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to generate new logos and develop new client relationships.
- Experience selling into pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, diagnostics, CRO/CDMO, or healthcare organizations.
- Strong network and understanding of Life Sciences hiring environments.
- Demonstrated success selling directly to hiring managers and functional leaders.
- Strong prospecting, cold-calling, networking, presentation, negotiation, and closing skills.
- Ability to generate opportunities rather than relying solely on inbound requisitions.
- Strong sense of urgency and responsiveness.
- Entrepreneurial, competitive, self-directed, and highly motivated.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a hunter who understands that successful contract staffing sales starts well before a requisition is opened.
They know how to identify where contractors are being used, where projects are understaffed, where internal teams are overloaded, and where upcoming initiatives will require additional talent.
For example, a pharmaceutical company preparing for a major validation project may not have an open requisition today. The successful salesperson will identify the project, understand the required skill sets and timeline, establish relationships with the project leadership team, and position Precision as the staffing partner before the client begins competing for talent.
The ideal candidate knows how to:
- Generate new accounts from scratch.
- Create demand rather than simply respond to requisitions.
- Build relationships directly with hiring managers.
- Generate multiple requisitions within an account.
- Turn individual contractor placements into larger staffing relationships.
- Sell specialized Life Sciences talent where speed and quality matter.
- Build recurring contractor revenue.
