Job Description:

Parsons is looking for a talented Linux Systems Administrator to join a tight-knit team keeping powerful, large-scale HPC systems healthy and secure. Your work will help enable cutting-edge research, AI/ML workloads, and production science. If you love working close to the metal, solving hard problems, and learning technologies most admins never touch, this is your type of environment.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Perform day-to-day administration on multiple HPC clusters, including installation, configuration, provisioning, tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Apply and maintain security hardening (e.g., DISA STIGs) and patching to support compliance and accreditation activities.
  • Perform physical hardware tasks such as replacing failed components (e.g., drives, memory, NICs, cables).
  • Work as part of an on-site system administration team supporting research, development, and production HPC environments.
  • Work with customers to resolved issues related to the HPC clusters and the services they run.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Hands-on Linux systems administration experience (RHEL/Rocky/SLES).
  • Working knowledge of HPC concepts and/or willingness to learn (clusters, schedulers, parallel/shared filesystems, high-speed interconnects).
  • Proficiency with scripting and automation using Bash, Python or other technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting fundamentals with hands-on hardware replacement.
  • The ability to work on-site and collaborate within a system administration team.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Experience with job schedulers such as Slurm or PBS.
  • Experience with HPC cluster managers (e.g., Warewulf, HP CM, xCAT, or Bright).
  • Experience with parallel/shared filesystems (e.g., Lustre, WEKA, or DDN).
  • Experience with high-speed interconnects (e.g., InfiniBand or Slingshot).
  • Experience administering GPU-based platforms, including NVIDIA GPUs and CUDA.
  • Experience implementing monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Container experience (Apptainer/Singularity, Podman, or Docker).
  • Exposure to Cloud and/or Kubernetes is a plus.

Education and Experience:

  • BS or MS degree in computer science or engineering, or equivalent experience

  • At least 8 years of directly related experience

  • Linux+ certification (or equivalent)

  • Security+ certification (or equivalent)

  • Top Secret clearance
