    Description

    We are looking for an experienced and highly organized candidate to serve as the lead paralegal in overseeing the Fee Motions and other settlement-related matters. This role supports attorneys in drafting substantial law and motion work, case management, deadline tracking, and billing analysis. The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional legal writing skills, time management, accuracy in their work product, and the ability to strategically manage the deadlines of a high-volume department.Key ResponsibilitiesLitigationDraft attorney fee motions, supporting declarations, memoranda of points and authorities, and related motion documentsReview oppositions to attorney fee motions, conduct legal and factual analysis as needed, and prepare persuasive reply briefs addressing all arguments raised by opposing counselCoordinate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to gather information necessary for motion preparationClosely monitor court dockets and deadlines and maintain accurate calendaring of attorney fee motion schedules and related deadlines to ensure all required filings are submitted in a timely mannerReview case files to identify relevant procedural history, litigation activity, and settlement informationMaintain templates, forms, and internal procedures relating to attorney fee recoveryEngage with executive leadership to improve workflow, procedures, and interdepartmental coordinationAnalysis & ReportingCalculate attorney fees, costs, and applicable interest using established firm methodologiesCompile, organize, and analyze billing records, litigation costs, and supporting documentation for fee motionsReview tentative rulings and court orders, and maintain the firm's internal database of attorney fee awards and related case outcomesReview and audit billing records for accuracyQualificationsRequired2+ years paralegal or other legal drafting experienceExtensive experience drafting legal documents, specifically motions and reply briefsProficient knowledge of California Civil Procedure and civil litigation (consumer protection or lemon law preferred)Strong legal writing, proof reading, and legal research skillsExperience calendaring and managing court and procedural deadlinesProficiency in Microsoft Suites, including Outlook, Word, and ExcelExperience using legal case management softwareDetail oriented and high-level organizational skillsPreferredExposure to attorneys' fees and costs recovery, fee motions, and post-settlement mattersExperience conducting reports on deadlines and performance outputsExperience with California State Court e-filing and Federal CM-ECFFamiliarity with Lexis Nexis and other legal research software#J-18808-Ljbffr
