Senior Logistical Planner

Location: Oakland, CA

Onsite Flexibility: Hybrid required on-site up to 3 times per week if needed, and potentially more if it becomes company policy at the Oakland office

  • Pay Rate: $50.00 $56.00 / Hour (USD)

Job Summary

This role oversees the supply planning function for a complex and diverse set of multiple material categories within a leading utility organization currently undergoing significant digital transformation. The position requires close coordination across program management, construction, and business finance organizations to socialize supply plans and related assumptions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in inventory management, statistics, and forecasting methods with a strong understanding of their financial and operational impacts, while leveraging SAP MRP and advanced Excel skills to drive operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee supply planning function for a complex and diverse set of multiple material categories.
  • Review and release purchase requisitions, initiate stock transfers, and expedite with vendors as needed to meet project start dates.
  • Closely coordinate and communicate allocation plans in the event of material shortages.
  • Provide off-hour material procurement and expediting support during storms and other emergencies.
  • Interact with program management, construction, and business finance organizations regularly to socialize supply plans and related assumptions.
  • Maintain SAP planning parameters in alignment with forecasts that achieve target fill rate and inventory turnover performance.
  • Present findings and make recommendations to function management.
  • Coach peers in supply planning concepts and lead continuous improvement efforts utilizing lean six sigma tools.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency in inventory management, statistics, and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts.
  • Hands-on SAP experience; knowledge of SAP MRP or other MRP system (MRP = Material Requirements Planning).
  • Strong Excel knowledge and experience, especially with VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Conditional Formatting, General Formulas, and Shortcut Keys.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, decision-making, presentation, and interpersonal skills essential to effectively interact with all teams, areas, and levels of business affecting the material planning process.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of SAP ERP, APO, Oracle Demand Planning, or other software related to demand planning.
  • Intermediate knowledge of lean six sigma concepts and tools.

Education Requirements

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in a job-related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Desired: Master's Degree in a job-related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Desired: APICS CPIM Certification.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in supply chain or a related field.

Nice-to-Have Experience

  • 7 years of experience in supply chain or a related field.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Hybrid assignment; required on-site at the Oakland office up to 3 times per week if needed, and potentially more if it becomes company policy.
  • Local candidates only only submit candidates currently local to the Bay Area / work location.
  • Laptop to be issued. An external monitor is recommended and should be provided by the supplier.
  • Personal phone to be used for MS Teams calls. No expense reimbursement for standard equipment.
  • Mileage, meals, and lodging can be reimbursed if asked to travel outside of the home base work location; must have manager prior approval before submitting.
